I have commented before that the purpose of socialized medicine is not health care, but rather government-run death care. The choker bill presently being rammed down America's throat in the Congress is no exception. In light of the recent history where hospitals have forcibly dehydrated people to death, everyone should pay attention to their gag reflex.
On page 430 of the 2009 Death Care Act we find:
(B) The level of treatment …may range from an indication for full treatment to an indication to limit some or all or specified interventions … (iv) the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration.
What "level of treatment"? Huh?
Buried in the arcane Death Care Act's 1,000 pages of detail is this little description of how the government will dictate to you, educate you and control your very survival with an "order regarding life sustaining treatment."
See, you might give "indications" that the "specified interventions" known as "nutrition and hydration" need to be taken away from you. The vigilant government...

Dr Brandt ran a hospital and worked on a prototype for the ovens of the Death Camps.. While developing the most efficient method of exterminating the “useless eaters” , found starvation to be inefficient. Due to the fact the nursing staff slipped food to the patients. Therefore, the SS was brought in to use lethal injection. the hospital was empty at the end of their stay. This provided Brandt with his opportunity to test his prototype of the Death Camp Ovens.
My stepfather was dehydrated against our wishes 4 years ago and my mother in law received the same non-treatment 2 months ago. It already happens and fighting it takes everything you have sadly in our cases we still don’t win.
I have had co-workers tell me about doing it to their own parents.
It is pretty common these days, sadly. I am sorry about your grief and loss.
The Perfect Solution to Senior Health Care and believe me, it's tempting
While discussing the upcoming Universal Health Care Program with my friend the other day, I think we have found the solution. I am sure you have heard the ideas that if you are a senior you need to suck it up and give up the idea that you need any health care. A new hip? Unheard of. We simply can't afford to take care of you anymore. You don't need any medications for your high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems, etc. Lets take care of the young people. After all, they will be ruling the world very soon.
So here is the solution. When you turn 70, you get a gun and 4 bullets. You are allowed to shoot 2 senators and 2 representatives. Of course, you will be sent to prison where you will get 3 meals a day, a roof over your head and all the health care you need! New teeth, great! Need glasses, no problem. New hip, knee, kidney, lung, heart? Well bring it on. And who will be paying for all of this. The same government that just told you that you are too old for health care. And, since you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay any income tax.

Thank you. I am gearing up for the fight again and I will not back down in any way this time. My mother has 4th stage breast cancer and will be counseled about hospice in the next week or two. Over my dead body while screaming to the media, they will NOT do to her what they did to my stepfather and my mother-in-law.
I have posted the nightmare with my stepfather on FR a couple times. My mother in law’s story is recent. The hospital nurses lied when asked about providing hydration, I found the evidence to contradict what my husband was told online in Stanford’s end of life protocol. She went to the hospital for slight shortness of breath and mild confusion, but died 8 days later. She was diabetic, they never checked her levels and they gave no insulin. They kept assuring my husband she was improving amd would go home on Thurs. My father in law was not sure what was going on, but kept repeating she was going home on Thurs. On Fri we were told she was in a coma and on Fri afternoon she was transferred to the hospice wing of the hospital. My husband flew out Sat morning. He found her in a bed no sheets or blanket in a short nightgown. He arrived a the hospital at 6PM she passed away around 9PM. He questioned the nurses about the lack of hydration and demanded a blanket to cover her. His father is now sort of waking up from the fog and is worrying about why knowing she was diabetic they never tested her levels nor gave insulin. She was alert eating and drinking when admitted. After admission there was no food nor water given and no tests of her sugar levels, coma within days, who’s surprised?
I just want to scream from the rooftops. WAKE UP AMERICA IT ALREADY HAPPENS!

Many years ago, doctors and hospitals went all out to keep people alive. Some of these measures were termed “heroic”, and many people were upset that their doctor was not listening to them, and they were being kept alive artificially and they were not being allowed to die with dignity.
The legislators responded, and now you can write up medical directives and living wills, to allow your medical representative to pull the plug should you not be able to.
My recent experience when my dad was in intensive care was very different than it was 30 years ago. The culture of death is already pervasive.
Within 2 minutes of his intubation, a rat-faced dr. with a weird accent, was telling me to let him go-and painting a dire picture.
If you are on medicare, and insist on living, this hospital will then push you to have a trach and peg within 1 day of entering the ICU, so they can ship you to a long-term acute care unit (found in large metropolitan areas).
They tell you this is necessary to “wean you off the ventilator”. The real story is: that you are costing them money for every additional day, and transferring you saves their bottom line.
When you enter the hospital, they ask you your code status.
Full code means all measures are to be tried to keep you alive.
Code 2 means many options will be tried, but so called heroic measures such as cpr, ventilation tube, artificial nutrition, hydration, defibrillation, are not allowed.
Code 3 means comfort measures only. You get drugs to prevent your pain, no antibiotics, no heart medication, etc.
nothing that would “interfere with the natural art of dying”.
Of course, there are all sorts of variations such as Full code except for CPR, for example. Crickets are chirping as long as you don’t want to try to live too long.
But should you be elderly, and desire to try all the wonderful medical options, that God has allowed man to develop, then they will twist your relative’s arm, and imply they are being cruel by trying to keep you alive.
Yes, his DeathCare plan will do the exact opposite.
