Web Site, Ad Campaign, e-Activism Part of Unprecedented Union Effort

Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa on Monday announced that the union will campaign vigorously for health care reform using a new Web site, an ad campaign, call-in days, e-activism and events planned throughout Congress’s August recess.

The campaign will kick off with a new Web site today, teamstersforhealthcarereformnow.com, to mobilize members in the fight for health care reform. The Web site launch will be supported by a Web-based ad campaign on targeted state blogs and on-line publications.

Tens of thousands of Teamsters activists will be asked to call Congress on Tuesday to support quality, affordable health care for everyone now – part of a national call-in day sponsored by Health Care for America Now.

“Health care reform is too important for the labor movement to sit on the sidelines,” Hoffa said. “The high cost of health care is burdening American workers, crippling U.S. companies, hurting the economy and adding to the deficit.

“I am personally urging Teamsters local unions to get out there and support President Obama’s efforts to fix our broken health-care system. This is an unprecedented effort on our part.”

The Web site features a toolkit for taking action, news, legislative updates and facts about the health care crisis facing America.

“Our e-activist effort is only the most recent in our ongoing mobilization of our members as we pursue our priorities: protecting and expanding American jobs and improving the quality of life for American working families,” Hoffa said.

Founded in 1903, the Teamsters Union represents more than 1.4 million hardworking men and women in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

Americans against Obamacare must stand up to this bullying and let their voices be heard.

Go and see your congressional representative in person and tell them "NO" to Obamacare.

And shout the Union thugs down while you are at it. Time they got a taste of their own intimidation tactics.

This is their leadership — how many of their members support this? My neighbor is a Teamster and is totally opposed to this bill.

The ‘Teamsters’ can kiss my @ss. They threatened and terrorized me and my family in the 70’s. They’re nothing but thugs.

Yeah, the unions probably already know they will have an “opt out” from whatever is done, they will probably get federal subsidies to sweeten their own separate plans, exempt from any national plan.

Aren't the unions exempt from the Obamascare provisions?

They get to continue with their own health plans, and get some financial incentive to arm-twist the private sector into using the communist plan (higher cost, no service, Final Solution for the soon-to-be-dead non-PC).

The good news? The Teamsters also supported Kerry because he was going to open up the ANWR for drilling -- or so they told him. And everyone.

“They’re nothing but thugs.”

That’s why you have to have guns for to make them agreeable and civilized.

the "leadership" will do anything to get out from under the DOJ's Consent Decree which mandates federal oversight of the union and it's finances

They have been under the government's thumb since Rudy RICOed the union when he was the US Attorney DSNY back in the 80s

The "leaders" are rarely in touch with the members

The Union heads may be for this but I can tell you that not a single unuon member anywhere is for this atleast not in hubby’s factory! Everyone realizes that this will be the end of their good healthcare in favor of what the governement thinks you deserve.

I had forgotten about Rudy and the RICO with the Teamsters. If they get it overturned by ZERO/Holder, then within a short time they will be back in business in time for Rudy to become Attorney General in a GOP Administration and take them out again. :)

When Right to Work passed in OK, two of the precincts that voted for Right to Work were made up of mostly GM workers. They can thank their leadership for calling wildcat strikes so often for the plant closing. They also convinced GM to change the product line they were making. Big mistake, GM kept the TX plant and closed OK. Drive by the UAW Office and you still see cars parked around of the UAW officers and there is NO GM plant.

From Jeff Head’s website:

[Section 164 Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize a retiree reinsurance health fund up to 10 billion dollars to assist participating employment-based plans (unions, community organizers, etc.) with the cost of providing health benefits to retirees and to eligible spouses, surviving spouses and dependents of such retirees. . .]

Unions and outfits like ACORN are treated differently than the rest of us.
