If one accepts this interpretation of events, Obama has two options — veer toward the political center or face an ongoing backlash against his ultra-liberal policies.

Here's the problem: Ubama doesn't BELIEVE he is a radical left-winger. In the environment from which he emerged - - the environment he spent his entire lifetime in - - his radical left-wing views are considered run-of-the-mill normal. In that America-hating, whitey-hating crowd (Ayres, Dohrn, Wright, Gates, etc.) he, indeed, is probably about in the center.

He won't "veer to the center" because in his mind he is already there. And his bloated ego will not allow him to change his tune. He will fight to the bitter end to convince normal Americans that succumbing to a Euro-style socialist welfare state is the best way to go. Ubama cannot be wrong, not about anything.

Clinton, when faced with a more conservative congress, had the sense to understand that doing something - even if it wasn’t really his personal favorite idea - was more important than getting his way (except with interns). Is anybody else aghast at their own nostalgia for the Clinton presidency?

I will never be nostalgic for anyone who held the voters and anyone else who didn't participate in his cult of personality in contempt (see also: Obama, Barack).

I'm not sure why the tech boom of the 1990s is so often overlooked. It was THE economic engine driving growth in so many areas of the country - not just the easy-to-rattle-off Silicon Valley but in cities and towns alike where computing power and inexpensive hardware/software revolutionized business. Despite the usual liberal attempts to decapitate a major player (Microsoft) and tax an entire new swath of white-collar workers into penury for not belonging to a union the tech effect lasted well into the 21st Century.

The greatest aspect of the Clinton era (if we must use that term) was that he was still fighting the battles of previous decades (as most Democrats do - witness David Axelrod). His administration's cluelessness meant that an entire new sector of the economy was created and grew exponentially thanks to the unwitting laissez-faire policies of a Democratic administration.

It’s both and more.

Obama is nothing more than a carnival barker.

He has already proven himself to be the worst person to occupy the White House in the history of our country.

Drudge reports today that the stimulus bill to create jobs in Oregon is a bust, the jobs lasted an average of 35 hours. We have the worst unemployment in the US, and not only that, I see one strange public works, like sidewalks running along a highway that nobody is going to use, just to spend the money. I wonder why they didn’t build a bike path, but oh well, I’m just a crank

TANKING? Are you kidding?
Why, he’s MORE POPULAR THAN EVER!

Just look at the poll the Media believes is GOSPEL, the Daily KOS/Research2000 Poll!

His APPROVAL is 61%!!
His Disapproval is only 36%,, and they are just INSANE CONSERVATIVES, doncha’ know...

According to this same poll, McConnell’s approval is just 19%, and BOTH Pelosi and Reid are in the mid-30’s!!

All is JUST FINE in Democrat Land, according to THEM, and their Mainstream Media allies!

Baghdad Bob couldn’t have rigged a better poll.

Bikepaths and sidewalks are all useful, but they are local government concerns and not national government concerns.

Defense is the big job of national government. I’d place infrastructure allowing commerce (roads, bridges, etc.) as the #2 job of modern government and not out of step with the constitution.

No way that health insurance is a constitutional concern of our government.

With Obama's numbers tanking, we need to be on guard for some "wag the dog"

Mmmmm. Indeed.

Meanwhile the 0bama ammo famine continues. At some level, a good chunk of the United State-ian population is not fooled.

The state run media and starry eyed Obama voters somehow could not smell him for the POS that he is, and what conservatives knew he always was. Obama took his throne in January and the sh!t pile has been growing ever since. The pile is now above the throne's lid and growing exponentially everyday. Obama is sitting on top of his own sh!t obelisk and it will be his own monument when he is gone. He could use a gallon of AXE body spay a day and he would still stink to high heaven. No wonder one of the TOTUS brothers committed suicide recently, he stinks and he never stops flapping his purple lips.

“a counterfeit leader who lied his way past a gullible public with the help of a LYING PRESS!”

Democrats and the Media told the Sheeple over and over again that Bush’s 3.9% unemployment rate, and 14,000+ DOW were ‘The WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION!!!”.

What’s even sadder is that the sheep BELIEVED IT, because it was being parrotted everywhere they looked, including Entertainment Tonite.

Now, we pay the price for that.
It’s poetic justice, but man, is this going to hurt.

Yeah, that’s another great example.

But then there are songs you hear a million times and still turn up the volume:

I think a lot of the sheen has eroded off The Great Spreader’s shiny physiognomy. People have seen him with the mask off, and many of them don’t like it.

“It is like a Banana Republic..the President makes the biggest news every day.”

And you’ll take notice of not a SINGLE MENTION of the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on those same newscasts.

Violence is rising, US Soldiers are dying, Civilians are being slaughtered, but because we now have a DEMOCRAT in charge, it isn’t worthy of mentioning. You NO LONGER see the daily death count at the end of the network news shows every night, have you noticed that??

A KOS diary that mentioned this last weekend was deleted as TROLLING, for Chrissakes!

Whay not both!?!!? :)

It is both. Some segments of the population don't give a demoRATS a** what his policies are as long as the economy is good. So if unemployment rates were falling they would be fine with whatever he does. Other people would be disillusioned by his big-spending ultra-lib ways regardless of what happened to their own pocketbook.

His rapid polling collapse is due to both kinds of people simultaneously being disappointed.

Every month that goes by an additional 5 to 8 percent of the population places blame for the economy on him rather than Bush. That line should cross within about 45 days by my reckoning. The july employment report comes out first week of august and nobody thinks it's going to be pretty.

Some of my dem friends say it sounds like I'm hoping for bad news (as they did under bush i quickly point out). But its not that. Obama's economic policies are a disaster. It would be like I saw 2 trains heading toward each other on the same track and somebody asked me what I thought was goint to happen. I'd tell them there would be a horrendous crash, but it would not be what I was hoping. It would simply be reality.

The stimulus was a load of crap, there were no "shovel ready" projects, only a few percent of it have been spent. Tax cuts would have been far more immediate and far more stimulative, but his ideology stopped him from making the right move, and that will again and again and again.

“On TV now saying recession is over.”

Meanwhile, Durable goods orders collapse, and the Commercial mortgage bubble is about to burst.

Democrats spent YEARS talking the economy DOWN, and making Americans believe that 4.4% unemployment, and a 14,000+ DOW under Bush was “THE WORST ECONOMY SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION!!!!”. Now, they are desperately trying to talk it UP again, and it’s not taking.

“With Obama’s numbers tanking, we need to be on guard for some “wag the dog” crisis”

You’re starting to see TWO theories on this around the Internet.

ONE- An invasion of Honduras to “Restore” Democracy.

TWO- A “National Banking Holiday” the first week of September.

PREPARE FOR BOTH....

I see one strange public works, like sidewalks running along a highway that nobody is going to use, just to spend the money.

A sidewalk to nowhere. Very fitting.

Obama's sidewalk is going to end with the US being amalgamated into the third world. They don't want to bring the rest of the world up to U.S. standards or that would have happened long ago. They want to bring the U.S. down.
