DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Two DeKalb County police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave after an investigation revealed they ran a background check on President Barack Obama.
A representative for the DeKalb County CEO’s office identified the officers as Ryan White and C.M. Route.
Officials said Obama’s name was typed into a computer inside a DeKalb County police car on July 20 and ran through the National Crime Information Center.
The secret service was immediately notified and contacted the DeKalb County Police Department.
A representative said both officers have been with the department less than five years.
A representative said one of the officers denied involvement.
An official investigation is being conducted by the DeKalb County Police Department’s Internal Affairs division.
It is unclear why the officers ran a check on the president.

Background check on “Barak Obama” turns up nothing. No surprise here. “Barak Obama” is probably a pseudonym.

The officers are morons. Certain names are flagged, so if they’re run, it sets off all sorts of alerts.

Interesting that the Secret Service were called. Why? Is that a formal procedure written into the use of running background checks?
Maybe after a bit more free fall of O's approval numbers, one of his loyal gatekeepers (thugs) will get curious and take a peek at some of the hidden records.

Is it illegal to do a background check on an elected official? Or were they put on leave because they used “company resources” to do so? Just wondering was this a legal issue or did they tag it as a security issue, or just a case of them using background check software when they weren’t authorized to do so? I’ve never run a background check, but know there are sites online that do that kind of thing for a fee...legally, do you have to have a person’s permission to run a background check on them? I know at our church they run background checks on all volunteers that work with children, but that is by signed consent. Never thought much about the legal ramifications, but obviously for these police officers it was a “no no” , I’m just wondering why.

i do know from a friend that works for the state law enforcement agency here florida that you can not just run (on the agency’s system) a background check without authorization just for the sake of doing it....it would be grounds for dismissal....i wonder what they would do though (the secret service) if you were a private citizen and paid to run one on an internet program....would be interesting to see how quick they came a knocking....
They could learn alot of information by reading Obama’s book where he admits recreational drug use.
I applaud these officers. It’s well documented that Obama might have committed fraud and perjury in claiming to be a natural born citizen.
There may be something in the job app or contract they signed upon employment that says that you cannot look up someone you aren’t arresting or such. I’ve worked in Human Resources and you can’t go rifling through personnel files.

It would also be for each employee’s protection of privacy. You wouldn’t want someone blabbing your personal info to everyone at work, would you?
Especially if they had a couple of thousand doors they had to knock on. That would tie the Secret Service up for quite some time. They might have to sub the work out.

So these policemen get placed on leave for doing a background check on Obama..yet the CEO of the company that accessed(and possibly tampered with) Obama’s passport while contracted with the State Department during the primaries gets picked to be in the Obama Administration. It was this passport breach that started the whole refusal of Obama to release his long form birth certificate.
Go figure.
