Peggy Noonan and Ronald Reagan
July 31, 2009 | Robin Masters

The wishy washy "reaganism/conservatism" of P. Noonan began long ago before Obama.

Here is what she wrote about Reagan after the Reagan/Mondale Debate in 1984.

After this comment, as you know, The Gipper has been elected in the biggest landslide since George Washington ran unopposed in 1792.

Thanks for setting the record straight. I dropped reading Peggy years ago in the WSJ and more recently dropped the WSJ. Taranto is an open borders and birther smearer jerk.

The paper got worse when Murdoch bought it. The last year it had journalist who could have been writters for the Wash Post.

Peggy is a RINO lib and her writing for years has been dull. She rode on Reagan’s coattails for ages.

She sounds like Martha Stewart who was a little Polish girl from Jersey City who eventually moved to slighly nicer Nutley. Nothing wrong with Polish people but she puts on airs like she always grew up in Greenwich. She got her hooks into a WASP Yale graduate attorney who she treated like crap after they got married. Her biography talks about how she became a successful stock broker but in reality it was essentially a penny stock boiler room firm. Her catering partner said she took side jobs without her knowing.

Martha is a real piece of work. Pushed her daughter on the Imclone huckster, got convicted about lying about inside trading etc. A very unpleasant person from the less scenic parts of Jersey like Peggy.

Peggy is a pro-abortion Notre Dame upeer east side catholic.

As much as I don’t want to ruin a great quote about Reagan having the biggest election victory since Washington, that’s not quite accurate.

It was a 49 state victory. The biggest since...

Nixon in 72! The OTHER republican left hates!

Reagan’s first debate with Mondale WAS a disaster. He fumbled, appeared disoriented and confused. People began to seriously question his faculties. Reagan famously saved himself in the second debate with his “youth and inexperience” quip, but the first debate was in fact an epic fail for the Gipper.

Saw where the other day some pundit referred to Noonan & Parker as the “menopausal wing of the GOP.”

Pretty damn funny if you ask me.

Once Reagan won a lot of rats jumped onboard the Gipper’s ship. They rode the winner as long as possible and then demonstrated their true colors when the party leadership revealed its weakness.
Many of the leaders were ship jumping rats themselves. A rat by any other name is still a rodent.

Please:

Can we ban Peggy Noonan, David Brooks, Kathleen Parker, and — who else can we add to this list? Can we ban them from FR?! If they ever were Conservatives, they are now WORSE than Liberals — they ENABLE the enemies of the Constitution and proponents of Statist Socialism!

Martha Stewart, wow I’d forgotten her similar background. Martha’s first successful foray was to finagle getting herself named Queen of The Xavier HS Military Ball. A very big affair in NYC Catholic circles in the 50s and 60s. I think Martha’s Ball was in the late 50s or very early 60s.

Would you like her better if she always agreed with you and told Reagan what she thought he wanted to hear?

Staffers can be early warning systems for candidates and pick up on where their weak points are before the candidates are aware of potential troubles.

Peggy overreacted with Reagan, but more recent candidates and presidents could have benefited from a little criticism while they could still put it into effect.

Maybe the 1940s. She is a real striver. She has had some real “dodgy” business dealings and is a witch. The poor daughter.
