Durbin warns other lawmakers of healthcare town hall 'sucker punch' @ 3:39 pm by Jordan Fabian

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) warned other members of Congress against antagonistic audience members at healthcare town hall events who may be funded by industry interest groups.

"I hope my colleagues won't fall for a sucker punch like this," Durbin told the liberal blog ThinkProgress.

"These health insurance companies and people like them are trying to load these town meetings for visual impact on television," he added.

Liberal news sources have recently featured items about conservative and interest groups efforts to pack lawmakers' town hall meetings with brash, vocal participants.

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius were faced with a hostile crowd at a town hall meeting in Philadelphia on Sunday.

Here is video of Durbin's remarks:

Rush had a caller today saying she heard some reporter on NBC say that the insurance industry was bussing in people to the townhall meetings. This is the new ploy the left is going with now.

Ahhh ... accusing others of your own tactics. I didn't notice the MSM questioning the buss loads of illegals protesting for 'immigration reform' aka amnesty a few years back No one asked how a large number of 'down trodden' illegal aliens, many of whom are not even functionally literate back in Mexico & don't know English, found the where-with-all to get matching t-shirts, professionally made signs in English, rent buses, etc.

Totally outrageous that he would say this! So anyone who disagrees that attends a town hall meeting, certainly couldn’t be frustrated citizen who wants to voice their opinion—no that is only reserved for ACORN and SEIU workers mascarading as townhall participants....No citizens who disagree with dems have to be marginalized and others admonished not to be sucker punched?!!

Wonder if Senator will be having any forums in which he can be, as he puts it “sucker punched”??!! I would like to give him my opinion & yes, it will be LOUD.

NO Durbin, it is not the "insurance" or "health care" companies. it is WE THE PEOPLE, you arogant ass.

This whole thing is not about Health Care, it is about control, plain and simple.

We need to take the fight to them in their townhalls. Hammer them mercilessly with factual data and do not take no for an answer. These reps need to fear the voters, their constiutents, for their political lives more than they fear Pelosi, Reed, or Obama.

Here is a link to the full House Democrat Health Care Plan in PDF. In Section 1233 E & F, pages 426-433, you find the part about mandatory end-of-life counseling for anyone over 65 years of age. Section 152 Page 50: All healthcare services will be provided without regard to "personal characteristcs" which is not defined within the document but is understood to include immigration status.

Section 224 b Page 125: The Secretary shall design and implement the payment mechanisms and policies under this section in a manner that — (1) seeks to (B) reduce health disparities (including racial, ethnic and other disparities).

A lot more provisions now being documented at that site.

Donwload it, read it, study it, then hammer your reps over it and pass it on to all you know asking them to do the same.

Also, here's a large image of the Democratic (Obama) Health Plan chart-another Obama empty promise. This is the one the House democrats are censuring. Email these links or the image to everyone you know.

Obama and all those pushing his radical agenda are abject marxist ideologues. Their "fundamental; change" is nothing more than a destruction of the American free market and fundamental republican principle.

Let me get this straight. It's OK for the Chosen 0ne to “load” town hall meetings and press conferences for “visual impact on television"; with planted reporters, prearranged questions, and the ever present teleprompter, without which Obama can hardly speak... BUT it's a “sucker punch” when a citizen gets up and dares to question the ongoing destruction of our country?

These fools seem to think they're anointed, and it's obvious they have nothing but disdain for the American people they're supposed to be serving!

Durbin, you Dick. Is it beyond your comprehension that the people that are antagonistic towards your marxist health care plan are TRULY TICKED OFF AT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT????

I strongly recommend attending these "town hall" meetings en masse wherever they are held, and getting the word out that we, the people, do NOT want government health care in this country. Period!

I'm looking forward to seeing the angry masses rise up in defense of our freedom and our constitution. These idiots, these worthless POS morons in Washington need to know that their employment terms are about to end.

They are not funded by anyone. They are real American citizens who are fed the hell up with all of the selfish, greedy politicans who want us to comply and bend over but they won’t do the same.

If this health bill is so darn good how come they don’t all jump on the band wagon and...that is what I would ask them at a town hall. I would ask them why they don’t sign up immediately and begin enjoying their new health care.

I would tell them to DARE NOT try and say I am funded by ANYONE but DRIVEN by my desire to continue on with the freedoms so many have died for before me. How DARE they think the people are pawns of others. Guess because THEY are pawns of so many they think everyone else is too.

Well, they are in for a rude awakening! These are honest to God everyday American citizens fighting for our very freedoms they have worked hard for. We are tired of working for all our benefits then having them taxed to death so that others who do nothing in most cases can benefit. Why should healthcare be given to an illegal????? Why? Then they turn around and will turn down a Senior Citizen whose parents and grandparents kept this country strong by working hard, spending and yes, giving to charities without obama or anyone else having to SUGGEST we do just that. We were taught at a young age to share with others and we have all our lives.

So, don’t let any of the weasels try and talk their way out of what they are trying to do to the citizens of this country. They want to CONTROL us all. They are finding out it is not going to be easy.

God bless the people of this country who love her and who have worked hard for her over the years and to our great military who have sacrificed their very lives so the rest of us can live in freedom and THAT all of you in DC means: “ We can make OUR OWN CHOICES of what healthcare we want.” There will be NO COUNSELOR in our home talking such preparation for death nonsense.

The American people are standing up tall and pround and taking our country back. Just look what the pioneers went through and those who settled the west and the hardships of the early settlers. All for what? To see our freedoms being eroded one by one on a daily basis???????????????

I think not. I think the people have had enough and now the other side is hearing them loud and clear and I hope to GOD they have the common sense to LISTEN.

Maybe your congressman and 10 DemocRAT senators will be looking for a new profession next Nov. We are a representative REPUBLIC. If they stop listening to the public then they should lose their position in Congress to represent you and like minded people.

How does Durbin or his people have clue one who these people are or where they’re from? Do they do background checks on everyone who shows up?

He and the rest of his scumbag ilk are just trying to make it look like the majority support the health reform bill but they’re being pushed out by the inundation of “operatives” from conservative groups and insurance companies.
