Scholars once thought Homer's tale of the Trojan War was mere mythology, until archaeologists discovered the site of ancient Troy.

Similarly, it may be that the appearance of Helen Thomas in modern times will cause scholars to consider the possibility that the Gorgon was not merely a mythical creature.
