Although my Dad served in the Navy during WWII, his later career was as a Coast Guardsman and Captain of the “Half Moon” which served in Vietnam in ‘67-’68. He passed on May 1st of this year and the honor guard from the Coast Guard was both well deserved by him and deeply appreciated by all of his family and friends.

Yeah, but we’re older than both of them combined. 1790.
Even the Auxiliary is 70.

“Daddy was a “Sparky” in WWII.”

Dad was too, in 1942 on the Big Horn, a Q ship on convoy duty in the No. Atlantic under Captain Jordan. He went on to command 3 sub chasers out of the Battery, Charleston and Key West and finally the Sorrel.
