Obama's Imperial Decree: Target Oklahoma
Tenth Amendment Center ^ | 08-06-09 | Bryce Shonka

Remember the good old days, when one only had to watch out for the Federal Government’s twisted interpretation of the commerce clause to justify tyranny?

Well those days seem to be long gone. The Obama Administration has been employing an old tactic lately – what some might call an imperial threat – and they’re not doing it overseas, either.

The state of Oklahoma is now the target of a direct challenge from US Attorney General Eric Holder, who is using the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as justification to violate Oklahoma’s sovereignty as affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution.

In a letter written to the State Attorney General in April, the Federal government used aggressive language, bringing up the possibility of withholding Federal funds appropriated for Oklahoma. The reason? A proposed amendment to the State Constitution, which requires voter approval, that would make English the official language of the State.

“What it indicates is the Federal Government’s contempt for the states, in this case Oklahoma, and for the idea of federal — as opposed to national — government. AG Holder believes that Oklahoma is an administrative subdivision of the USA, and that it is perfectly right for him to coerce Oklahomans to do his will. Who cares whether he has ever been to Oklahoma, met an Oklahoman, or thought about Oklahoma?” said Kevin Gutzman, an American historian and bestselling author.

DESTROYING LOCAL GOVERNMENT

“Both of these letters, particularly this letter to the Attorney General of Oklahoma, are very officious,” observed Rob Natelson, professor of law at the University of Montana. “It reminds one eerily of the kinds of communications that started to come out from the Emperor to the local cities of the Roman Empire, beginning the course of the ultimate destruction of local government.”

This is precisely the sort of thing that should make the State Sovereignty people feel increased energy. Their enemy is coming for them and their only defense is to re-double their efforts.

If this is the price we have to pay for Obama doubling the troop count in Afghanistan and maybe getting us into war with more countries, such as Pakistan or Columbia, then this is a small price to pay. War uber alles.

OK is being targeted by this thug specifically because no county voted for him.

It’s serendipitous that OK and Tx are contiguous.

Tell the one to “bring it on”. There is a reason you won’t see these town hall meetings in OK. The union thugs and ACORN agents would be beaten to a pulp inside of a minute.

P.S. They can add me to the “enemies” list.

Only 34% of Oklahomans voted for ZERO and if we had a vote today, he would be lucky to get 20% here. Take on Oklahoma and their voters — go right ahead and help us throw out the lone Democrat in our delegation. All I know is that since we passed the tough Immigration Laws, the number of illegals has dropped noticeably. In fact, you can now go in an emergency room and be seen almost immediately! No more waiting behind illegals.

Holder can take it and shove it. He will be at the end of the Unemployment Line in Jan 2013 if not sooner.

We do appreciate his help in electing Cong Mary Fallin as our next Governor and getting rid of Doofus the Governor in Jan 2011. Our Doofus Governor loves ZERO. The Attorney General Democrat running for Governor threw in with Gore in 2000 and against the Boy Scouts in CT using this State who had overwhelmingly voted for Bush against Bush. No Democrat stands a prayer to be elected our new Governor.

Send the Democrats to the back of the Unemployment line in Nov 2009.

I would love to see the states start putting their federal dollars into escrow accounts.........

Do not send the money to the feds, fund your own highways, your own schools, your own power plants.

Why send your money to washington to get only 83 percent of it back?

How about if Oklahoma said all business within the state will send all Federal Income Taxes collected to the state treasurer. The state treasurer will then make disbursements to the Feds as appropriate. This would give the people the cover they need. Oklahoma could withhold any taxes from the Feds and jam this threat right down their Bolshevik throats.

If they withhold federal funds then Oklahoma should pass a law saying its citizens can deduct the percentage owed them from their next return (conveniently calculated by the states department of revenue). Withholding funds should not be possible otherwise taxation without representation is being violated. This is why the 16th amendment is a joke, thing kind of thing could not happen prior to it.

Let’s go back to having the state’s remit funds to the Fed instead of the people. Then the Fed has to answer to the states and cannot bully individuals (as our founders intended).

Seems like the Obamatons might have something in particular against Oklahoma because that state gave O the smallest % of the popular vote of any in the Union last November.

BTW, what the heck is wrong or illegal about a state declaring that English is its official language?
