(First, peek at page 70, line 22: this section provides $10 Billion for it’s provisions. Now go read the rest.)
As you read, note that “reinsurance” is never defined or discussed. This is NOT a reinsurance provision.
In a nutshell, the $10 billion is for “eligible” RETIREE health plans. Retirees as young as 55 yrs old. Sounds like UNIONS to me (who else retires at 55...WITH health care?).
Remember when the UAW whined about the “deep concessions” their retirees made...the ones that supposedly balanced things out so Obama could screw the bondholders? You might say those concessions lasted 90 days, because this is where Obama’s paying them back...with OUR MONEY.
My suspicion was confirmed Thursday when Sweeney issued his letter exhorting AFL-CIO members to attend town halls. In that letter he also listed the 4 “key issues” his union insists MUST be in the bill. One of those was:
“relief for company/union funds providing pre-Medicare retiree coverage”.
So Sweeney confirmed my suspicion. Section 164 satisfies his demand.
