White House Move to Collect 'Fishy' Info May Be Illegal, Critics Say
Foxnews ^

The White House strategy of turning supporters into snitches when they see "fishy" information about the health care debate may run afoul of the law, legal experts say. "The White House is in bit of a conundrum because of this privacy statute that prohibits the White House from collecting data and storing it on people who disagree with it," Judge Andrew Napolitano, a FOX News analyst, said Friday. "There's also a statute that requires the White House to retain all communications that it receives. It can't try to rewrite history by pretending it didn't receive anything," he said. "If the White House deletes anything, it violates one statute. If the White House collects data on the free speech, it violates another statute."

Surely congress or the AG will jump right on this.

I sent them an email self-reporting that I'm "fishy" on Obamacare.

I wonder which of these laws they broke? Did they collect my data and break the law, or did they delete my data and break the law?

Time to sue.

Time to watch this movie:

"The Lives of Others" is the English version. It's about life under the Ministerium für Staatssicherheit, a.k.a., Stasi.

There is ZERO difference between flag@ and the main action of the Stasi, getting citizens to inform on each other for not following the ruling party.

Not a problem. these are the folks who make the laws. They can just write what they need, sneak it into a bill that is on track, and voila, no more huhu.

The idea was to chill Free Speech, by intimidating people not to speak out publicly or privately against the White House plan.

You know...from websites where all you have to do is insert an email address and the WH will end up on their mailing list. There are lots of them...fill the WH email box with spam from stores, kids sites, joke sites, (whatever your "evil protestor" mind wants to send, LOL). Easy enough to do...just insert the flag@whitehouse.gov email addy into the sites area requesting an email addy for future mailings.

Brilliant!

Whoa, you have a great point. We can send all these news articles about Obama’s thugocracy- not links but the wording of the articles themselves.

They are duty bound to keep them forever!

And if they delete them, we can prove they did by keeping a record they were sent, so they’ll be caught in their own trap.
