Beat Me in St. Louis (Mark Steyn)
National Review ^ | August 10, 2009 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 08/10/2009 9:21:38 AM PDT by rightwingintelligentsia

As Jim Treacher says:

If Kenneth Gladney was an Obama supporter, right now he'd be more famous than Rodney King.

Gotta love this "post-racial America": Democrat union heavies can beat up a black guy using racial epithets and leave him in a wheelchair unable to speak — and happily (unlike, say, a black professor being asked for picture ID) it's not "symbolic" of anything at all. Not a Sharpton in sight to speak up for him: Mr. Gladney's only shot at fame is an entry in The Guinness Book of Records under "Least Famous Black Hate-Crime Victim In America."

Nothing personal, of course. Just what happens when Uncle Tom the Plumber decides to hang with the uncivil-rights movement:

Asked about the breakout of boisterous and occasionally violent protests at Democratic town hall* events throughout the country, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs declared that the demonstrators were showing less civility and manners than his six-year-old child.

"Behave yourselves like your mom would probably tell you to do," Gibbs said when asked what piece of advice he would give to the demonstrators.

Congressman Timeserver isn't my mom. And, if he were, I'd tell him to quit stealing my paper-route money.

Congressman Timeserver isn't my mom.

Snort. Thank heavens. No one wants to think about their mom throwing them under the oncoming mass transit vehicle.

Stole it from Gateway Pundit. He has a pretty good round-up on the Obama thug attacks around the country:

That is perfect. Make it into a sign and carry it to the next town hall or tea party!

Looking at the Newsbusters transcript of the Fox News interview of Kenneth Gladney, the SEIU may be in trouble.

Kenneth Gladney has a lawyer. The SEIU goons were at the event at the instigation of the SEIU, wearing SEUI t-shirts. A group of them evidently used violence for the express purpose of preventing a black man from exercising his First Amendment rights.

This falls under US Code, Title 18, Section 241:

§ 241. Conspiracy against rights

If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or

If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured—

They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
It's possible that the Obama Justice dept would decline to do anything with the case, but I think he would have a civil case to go against the SEIU. And any protections that unions have against suits over violence committed by union members in a strike action would not apply to violence committed by union members in a political gathering.

I stopped watching the "news" around the time O got elected. This beating reminds me why. My contempt for these "journalists" in covering this up knows no bounds. It's not fair calling them worthless human beings, they are far worse than worthless.

I have a lot more respect for the homeless guy selling newspapers at the intersection. At least he's earning his money honestly, and means no harm.
