MSNBC is having an on air meltdown over a man their camera crew videotaped openly carrying a handgun at an anti-Obama protest in Portsmouth, New Hampshire this morning near where Barack Obama will be holding a town hall meeting later today.
MSNBC showed footage of the man with the gun openly holstered to his right leg. He was holding a large sign with words about the tree of liberty.
The Portsmouth police chief informed MSNBC the man was legally armed.
The man was reportedly standing with a group of protesters on the property of a church.
More as this develops.

Open carry is not uncommon around here.
When there was an open legislative session whether to pass a resolution in support of the 10th amendment, there were more than a few of those guys that entered the Legislative Office Building with sidearms openly holstered.
Unfortunately, we have a communist in the governor’s office, and the state legislature is dominated by communists, so the resolution did not pass.
However, the local police mostly support open and concealed carry.
On Anderson Cooper Reagan (not Ronald) was freaking out because a man at the St. Louis town hall meeting (I believe it was St. Louis meeting) had a hand gun that fell out of his coat. The lady sitting opposite him basically said so what.

I think all protesters should be armed, where it’s legal to be armed.
If PMSNBC doesn’t like it, they can go to hell. The man was exercising TWO of his constitutional rights, apparently MSNBC only ‘approves’ of one of those rights.
I’m thinking that more of us need to do this. Two major reasons. First, as a show of force against the union thugs so they wont do something stupid. Second, constantly freak out the MSM and get them to report over and over again ... as you know they will, so that he population becomes desensitized to firearm carry.

I have to agree with you. Just because you have a right to do something doesn’t mean you don’t exercise that right with common sense. This was a stupid time to be displaying a gun.
We as conservatives recoil at pushing the limits. Perhaps it's time we pushed and pushed until the limits are more to our liking. Like, I don't know, following the constitution perhaps. What a radical idea.

Maybe so, but the fact that carrying a weapon openly is legal does not mean it is a sensible thing to do. At this time sending the message conveyed by the firearm is not productive and helps the left in stereotyping our opposition as being right wing militia types. We have to know who the auduence is, and how our actions will be perceived. Right now momentum is on our side.Giving the opposition the chance to portray us through their prism is not helpful.

It is his right, and to some extent in the other town halls, some responsible exercise of the 2nd Amendment may be necessary to guarantee the exercise of the 1st.
However, I would also not have done so today. Whether we like it or not, there is a different “security” standard that applies to the POTUS, whether he is Republican or democrat. I would not openly carry a weapon anywhere near a presidential event. It’s a matter of personal discretion.
