DAN Rather has some nerve. Although he helped force Walter Cronkite out of the CBS anchor chair in 1981, and then kept the popular newsman off the air to avoid unfavorable comparisons, he had the chutzpah to attend Cronkite's funeral. And Rather, who's suing CBS for fraud and defamation, is unafraid to show his face in social circles.

CBS would have gained some shred of credibility if they had FIRED HIS ASS for knowingly reporting a falsified story.
They let him weasly his way into claiming he was going to retire some months in the future.

He didn’t force Cronkite out. Old Walter said he wanted to go out on top.
And please, Walter wasn’t a hero, just a guy who knew he could still suck the teats of CBS fora few more decades while he helped rewrite his own legacy.

It’s hard to get too worked up with the shamelessness of one radical, liberal news anchor. Rather is like liberals everywhere. He is shameless because he can never be embarrassed. Such things as shame require a conscience.
