Representative Eric Massa (D- NY) addressed an intimate group of Net Roots activists during their annual Net Roots Nation gathering in Pittsburgh this weekend. Mr. Massa reiterated his support for a single payer health care bill. He discussed the risks he takes for wanting to support such a measure in his "right wing Republican district."
According to Swing State Project, Mr. Massa won his 2008 race by two percentage points. The voting pattern index (PVI) is a Republican +5 seat. The National Republican Congressional Committee has the upstate New York congressman in their sights for 2010 along with 69 other House Democrats as reported by Politico. The transcript is below, and check out the corresponding video above

That would be an even worse disaster. Obama sent a bill to the House last month authorizing the formation of the Independent Medicare Advisory Council, or IMAC. The group of five non-elected members would have total control over Medicare spending, and a freeze in any increase in spending would begin in 2014.
You can read about it here -- as David Broder of the Washington Post says in the piece, "...Congress will have to decide if it is willing to yield that degree of control to five unelected IMAC commissioners. And Americans will have to decide if they are comfortable having those commissioners determine how they will be treated when they are ill."
That is a garbage bill... This is the really scary part:
“...IMAC would annually recommend a set of broader reforms to improve the quality or reduce the cost of medical care. On each report, the president would have 30 days to approve or reject the recommendations, but he would have to act on the whole package, not pick it apart.
If he approved, the package would go to Congress and could be overruled only by joint action of the Senate and House within 30 days. Absent that, the secretary of health and human services would order the changes into effect. “
I have no reason to believe that this wouldn’t be a part of health care “reform” regardless of what they try to do with it. Whether they fold Medicare into a public option, or repeal it and dump everyone onto standardized insurance plans with private providers.
It all comes down to the government deciding what we do and don’t get... and more importantly when it’s time to just someone go.
I didn’t like what Rep. Kuhl did, but I held my nose and voted for him anyway because these libjerks scare the crap out of me.

He looks like Flounder from “Animal House”.
Ohhh Boy....
Look beside as*hole in the dictionary and his picture will be there. I want to see every single member of the House and Senate tarred and feathered and removed from office forever! We need to start over.
Rent me a cot in your garage and I will run against this idiot.
If the residents re-elect this moron they deserve to be euthanized when they reach old age.
Keep the pressure on this clown.
you really think we’ll win 69 seats in 2010?
“You right-wingers are going to vote for me, whether you like it or not”!

“Right Wing Republican District”
Amazing.
Is THAT what the DORK looks like!!?? LOL!
This will make for a great campaign commercial. Republicans have a local mayor running against Massa.
Massa is a good example of why liberalism is a mental disorder.
“You think all that unspent stimulus money will suddenly appear in all Dem districts at risk in 2010? I do.”
Oh hell yes! Anyone who doesn’t believe you is a damned fool.
We keep hearing that there has been only a small part of the TARP money spent. Why else would they be holding back if not to buy the election in 2010 and 12?
That has CLEARLY been the plan ALL ALONG!
These dirty no good bastards can not be beaten at the polls.
I am a voter in Massa’s district..
If he REALLY said this..and then votes FOR a single payer plan..and voters get to see him saying that broadcast in a political commercial.. he is politically DEAD in this district.
DEAD, DEAD, DEAD.
We don’t stand for that kind of arrogance in this mainly rural and Republican district in New York.
Tom Reed is running. I don’t know much about him other than that he’s Mayor of Corning. But he has to be better than Massa.
From the story I just read that was posted, it sounds like Massa just shot himself in the foot and “voted” himself out of office.
