KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Trial is under way in Knoxville for the first of four people charged in the kidnapping, rape and killing of a young couple more than two years ago.
As court convened Monday, the judge read each of the 38 counts against 26-year-old Letalvis Cobbins. His attorney, Scott Green, responded by entering pleas.
Green said his client pleaded guilty to five counts of facilitating robbery or theft in the carjacking that set the crimes into motion in 2007. He also pleaded guilty to one count of rape. To the remaining counts, Green responded "not guilty."
Cobbins — of Lebanon, Ky. — is also charged with murder and kidnapping in the killings of 23-year-old Christopher Newsom and his 21-year-old girlfriend Channon Christian.
When Christopher Newsom's bound, shot and burned body was identified the day after he was killed in 2007, authorities warned his mother the sight would be too gruesome for her to see.

And yet the presence of white people in the neighborhood in which the crime occurred was so rare, so unusual, that it was posited shortly after the crime that the victims were in the area to buy drugs, as if that mitigated the heinousness of the crime.
So, we are left to wonder why it was, in an area with very few white people present, that these animals let hundreds, thousands of potential black victims pass by.
If the victims were white, the gruesome details of this crime would be trumpeted endlessly.
But they're white, so who cares?
I'm really beginning to hate the MSM with a passion. I'm starting to see their agenda more easily at every turn by how they present information and what they omit.

I'll certainly admit to being more inclined to take the parents' word over that of anonymous people typing on their PC's who choose to jump to their own emotional conclusions unsupported by any of the evidence presented heretofore.
Psychopaths commit savagely heinous crimes against members of their own races all the time, and we don't automatically assume they've committed a racial hate crime without any evidence, do we?

Given that Knox county voted for McCain over Obama 61 to 38 percent, how do you figure Knoxville is a liberal cesspool? And UT is a nice campus (UT grad here — electrical engineering). I think you’ve misjudged. Maybe you’re thinking of Asheville?
It's just speculation on my part, but perhaps this is exactly what led the parents, police & prosecutors to conclude unanimously that it was the victims' late model Toyota 4-runner sticking out like a sore thumb in a derelict neighborhood which attracted these psychotic predators to their victims in the first place.
Asheville? Well, it's not as bad as Aspen maybe, but there are lots of out-of-state lefties who retire there.
Because “Snitches get stiches” One of those cute urban phrases. They complain about gangs killing each other then they dont talk to police.
You could see the defense now. They will trot out some headshrinker to say the youths were fighting back from decades of oppression. Then they will have Black Panthers in the courtroom giving the stink-eye to the jury.And there will one white person who feels guilty who will hold out.

Beaten and gang raped for 4 days while gang members took turns urinating on her.
Then, while alive, they cut off her breast and put chemicals in her mouth.
Then they murdered her.

I agree with you—we’re on the same side here. I think “hate crime” laws are stupid...but considering some of the flimsy criteria that are used to have “hate crimes” cut one way, this crime rises far above them, yet wouldn’t be prosecuted as a “hate crime” because it cuts the other way. It’s worth pointing out the double standard, even if we don’t think “hate crime” statutes are worth anything.
My main point in my post was that these four, after the heinous crimes they’ve (allegedly) committed, deserve nothing but a quick death after being found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

We must take into account the vicious racial discrimination to which the alleged perpetrators were exposed throughout their lives.
