We talked yesterday about anti-gun David Michaels, Obama's pick to head the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. And we saw that a "public health" excuse for infringing on the right to keep and bear arms has been used in the past. Continuing from "Second Opinion: Measuring the Violence":
A pilot project at CDC in the 1990s to monitor firearm fatalities drew ire from gun advocates and was stopped after three years. Now all money appropriated to CDC to study injuries comes with a stipulation from Congress that the funds cannot be used to advocate for gun control.
Why was that? From "The Perversion of Science and Medicine (Part III): Public Health and Gun Control Research," by Miguel A. Faria, Jr., M.D.:
...Dr. Mark Rosenberg, Director of the CDC's National Center for Injury Control and Prevention (NCIPC) in 1994 told The Washington Post: "We need to revolutionize the way we look at guns, like what we did with cigarettes. Now it [sic] is dirty, deadly, and banned."
Does anyone doubt that Michaels will bring a similarly creative agenda to apply through regulatory measures under the guise of "occupational safety and health"?
I'll wrap this up in my next column, where we'll look at what Michaels' confirmation will mean and also examine the possibility of derailing it when the Senate reconvenes next month. Gun owners probably can't--and shouldn't have to--do that alone.
If you still have a functioning brain you know this. Private gun ownership is not allowed in Socialism. Free speech is not allowed in Socialism. Security in your papers is not allowed. The pursuit of happyness is not allowed. Private property is not allowed.Nothing in the Constitution is allowed. Socialism should be illegal. Socialism is a crime against Humanity. Obama and the Democrats are Socialists. They intend to destroy the Constitution.
An enterprising criminal should try to obtain the home addresses of people like this. It would be easy pickings. Maybe afterwards, the victim would have a different view on his/her gun animosity.
back to the “safer bullets” strategy that Clinton tried to slide by us?
I know a life-long gun owner who has only ever had medical treatment for physical damage. At 68 years of age he has no chronic ailements and requires no medication.
Put that in your data and compute, CDC.
(Of course I know guns don’r make a person healthier (but they can allow you to live longer), but those ‘people’ are trying to prove the opposite.)
the telling comment is
“We need to revolutionize the way we look at guns, like what we did with cigarettes. Now it [sic] is dirty, deadly, and banned.”
We need to change attitudes of these people. the reality is that crime rates go down when gun sales go up.
Thanks for the info. Do you have a source for it? I would like to link it.
Unrelated, but are the various Examiners around the country in different cities affiliated with the Washington Examiner?
Whats the justification - lead poisoning ???
Should count in violent crimes thwarted which otherwise would have been hazardous to someone’s health.
FRIGGIN TRAITORS!
Time after time I posted that the campaign to prohibit smoking was setting precedents which would later be invoked in other prohibitionst schemes.
They came for the smokers but I wasn’t a smoker so I didn’t speak out.
Then they came for the fatties . . .
Then they came for the gun owners . . .
As I mentioned in another thread a while back, one of the arguments used against cigarettes was that when the product is used as intended, it kills people.
Now, what other product can you say that about, assuming your aim is accurate?
In a country where risk aversion and zero tolerance for anybody’s pet bugaboo is the norm, what would you say the chances are that a toddler of today will have a Second Amendment right at all.
(Ok, just kidding. We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.)
What's this about some OSHA prick, again?
Oddly enough, that is one.
Not the balistic version, the airborne version at indoor shooting ranges plus the residual going into the water supply from outdoor ranges and hunting ammo that doesn't lodge in prey and winds up on the ground and in waterways.
Bastards.
What guns? We lost ours....in a boating accident.
