So then your point is that all surveys are meaningless, since anybody can say "anything they want".
LOL! You’ve nailed it.
No, it’s the “self-identifying” part... that I’m talking about...
What a lot of other surveys will do is not go on the basis of “self-identifying” (for the category) — but rather — ask about the “parameters” for that category/designation.... and in getting the “parameters” in that survey, they get the accurate numbers....
You ask people to “self-identify” their designation as conservative or not... and it’s going to be skewed. But, if you ask people about “conservative things” that they do or act upon, versus “liberal things” that they do or act upon, and then you’ll get more accurate answers...

As I said before, one way to “clear it up” for that kind of survey would be to ask, “Who did you vote for in the last election, McCain or Obama or neither?” And then, you follow up with the question, “If the election were today, who would you vote for again, McCain or Obama or neither?” And then, from that, you find out how many “self-identifying conservatives” actually voted for Obama... LOL...
That's true. But I don't think the degree of accuracy would be that much more significant. And I'm sure there are errors on both sides of the self-identifying responses.
As I said before, one way to clear it up for that kind of survey would be to ask, Who did you vote for in the last election, McCain or Obama or neither?
State-by-state more people voted for McCain in 2008 then called themselves "conservative" in this Gallup survey. So the election results of 2008 don't disprove the Gallup survey.
I think this poll isn't meaningless.
The problem with that poll then — is “Why did more than 10 million conservatives vote for Obama?
I ask that, since the poll shows that there are more conservatives than there are liberals, that means that since the vote count shows about 10 million more votes for Obama in this last election, that means those are 10 million conservative voters that voted for Obama...
And my guess is those are the “self-identified conservatives” ... doncha know... :-)

This is where you are wrong my friend. Look at the poll again. The poll also offers the desription "moderate" as an answer. That's what you aren't considering. As I said above: State-by-state more people voted for McCain in 2008 then called themselves "conservative" in this Gallup survey.
That is a true statement.
Find the poll and look at the results and then look at the results of the 2008 election.
Your above statement is incorrect. The election results of 2008 don't disprove the Gallup survey.

Well, I have my own “survey” and it goes like this... “If you voted for Obama, you’re a liberal!”.... LOL...
Now, looking at my “survey results”, I see 10 million more liberals than conservatives...
It’s a fairly simply and *extremely accurate* survey, too.... :-)
According to exit polls, 27% of the voters who voted for Obama in the 2008 election, think that "government is doing too much". That's 17 million people who are more conservative than the status quo. That's also 17 million people (idiots) were mislead into thinking that Obama was for smaller government.
Your survey is simple, but I don't think it's a more accurate indicator than the Gallup poll which shows that there are more conservatives in this country than liberals.

From what I saw in the election results, it doesn’t appear that way to me. I’m more concerned about who people vote into office than what they call themselves... LOL...

You ignored what I said in my above post.
Im more concerned about who people vote into office than what they call themselves... LOL...
As I pointed out it appears that most people at this point in time do want smaller government. What I'm most concerned about people understanding who is for small government and who (Obama) is against small government.

Ummm..., actually, it was more like... I consider the *election* as the more important “indicator”.... LOL...
And from that indicator, it appears to me that it was liberals who put Obama into office...

My post used the data from the "election", as I said, you ignored it.
Here it is again....
BTW, you should do something about your "ummm" impediment. Just a suggestion.
LOL!

Well..., it’s pretty funny to take the “data” from the election that you are I are talking about and say that this is a good result... LOL...
From where I stand it got a liberal elected. Now..., you may call that good news, but I call it bad news... :-)
LOL, what?
I never even remotely said that the election result "was good" and that the election result "was good news".
You're making things up now.
Have a good evening.
There’s nothing made up about the fact that liberals vote liberals into office, and that’s what we got in the election... No amount of other polls is going to change that fact...
Of course liberals voted for the liberal, Obama. I never said that they didn't. What I'm also saying is that there were many people (mostly centrists) who voted for Obama who were fooled by the media into thinking that Obama was a centrist.
I've given you the data from the last election to support what I said. Disagree with that all you want but don't start twisting my words to avoid what I pointed out to you.
I have no doubt that there are more conservatives than liberals especially now. It's the brainwashed cnetrists who messed things up.
It’s a false picture that anyone else other than liberals vote for a liberal... that’s where the problem is in that poll. Only a liberal votes for a liberal... that’s the only criteria that anyone needs to know...
Where were they in November?
All I need is one question... Did you vote for Obama or McCain? And then, I would have a follow-up question after that If the election were today, would you vote for Obama or McCain?
Okay, so somehow that is a better gauge than identifying if one is conservative or liberal? And determining the trend line is of no importance? Ok, have it your way. I will have it mine, this is great news! BTW, I am definitely by any standard a solid conservative...I would not vote for McCain. I think it is great that rather than McCain...Obama won. We are seeing the resurgence that is reflected in the poll I posted about towards conservatism that we probably would not have seen if McCain were President.
You are missing the point...this is post election information...it is GREAT news!
