Oval Office Visit Hints at Daschle's Role
The Washington Post ^ | August 22, 2009 | Philip Rucker and Anne E. Kornblut

Former Senate majority leader Thomas A. Daschle's visit to the Oval Office on Friday, at the invitation of President Obama, was more than just a meeting between two loyal friends and political allies. It also served as a reminder of what might have been.

As Obama's health-care agenda teeters in Congress, the White House listed the private meeting on the president's public schedule, sending a signal that Obama is still consulting Daschle on his top domestic policy priority. An assiduous student of health policy and an adept creature of the Senate, Daschle was Obama's first pick to oversee his reforms, but a firestorm over Daschle's failure to pay about $146,000 in taxes on time prompted the South Dakota Democrat in February to withdraw his nomination to be secretary of health and human services.

[One longtime friend of the former majority leader said Daschle planned to advise Obama to "go on vacation, get off the airwaves and get your people off the airwaves" in an attempt to lower the temperature of the debate and give Senate negotiators more time to craft a mutually satisfactory deal.

"A little radio silence wouldn't hurt," said the source, who is involved in health-care lobbying and spoke on the condition of anonymity to talk candidly about strategy.]

in other words, sneak it through under the radar. People won't protest and object if they don't know what is going on.

If the American Citizens wanted Socialist Health Care we would already have it.
We don’t and we don’t
That would say something to most normal people.
Obviously Obama and the Democrat Congress that are trying to ram Socialist health care odwn our throats are not normal people.

Well they will eventually massively protest and object. Sneaking it in may be a very dangerous tipping point at this time.

People are watching them like hawks.

It gets worse. They don’t bother mentioning Tom Daschle’s wife Linda in this article.

One of the last things Obama did before he left for vacation was to have a private meeting with Tom Daschle regarding health care.

Tom and Linda Daschle - the quintessential double dipper DC power couple. Tom Daschle’s wife, Linda, was recently hired by GE as a lobbyist. GE increased their lobbying budget by millions in the last quarter - an historic increase for the company. One of GE’s “specialties” is “health care”. LOL.

Yes, it's hard to sneak when people know that's part of your plan.

It's suicidal of obie One to have this weasel onboard.

Daschle's problem was that he was one of the first crooks that was caught. If you remember criminality was not an issue in the later appointments.

Lol. Where’s Rahm, in the chorus?

I’m sure you know this, but GE (Linda Daschle’s new employer) owns NBC.

The following is the link talking about her new “job.”

Daschle makes me think of a T Roosevelt quote:

"Speak softly because you have a little stick".

I think that is not going to go away anytime soon. Even if Hussien Care dies a terrible death this fall, the public is not going to go back to sleep and ignore what is happening in Washington. The public has lost its trust with this Congress and the Administration on things like Cap ‘n Trade, Illegal Immigration, Spending, Taxing, Foreign Affairs. The trust has been lost and the publics attention has been focused on what is happening in our government.

If they try to sneak anything by, it will not go unnoticed. If they try to stop free speech, it will not go unnoticed. They (Washington) don’t realize the tinder box that they are sitting on. The sleeping giant (the people) has awakened.

The mighty Tom Daschle has a reknowned record of accomplishment in the public arena...his expertise in policy matters is exceeded only by his knowledge of the arcane processes of the Senate and his ability to navigate complex legislation through Washington. What a sissy.

I am sure after that Oval Office meeting an extended visit from Super Slime Busters was desperately needed.

Inside the White House, there is a deep reservoir of support for Daschle, one of Obama's earliest backers in last year's campaign. Many of the president's advisers once worked for Daschle, including Rouse, communications director Anita Dunn, deputy communications director Dan Pfeiffer and legislative affairs director Phil Schiliro.

This is like incest.
