If you haven’t checked...the New Orleans mayor’s race is 6 March 2010 (I checked). Nagin can’t run, because of term limits. To qualify, you have to be in the region in early December of this year.
The other option...is the senate election in 2010.
Yes, that’s him. There have been several posts here in the past few days about him challenging Vitter. It is important that Louisiana voters know that the first thing he does after moving back here is speak at the Shreveport NAACP banquet.
On the Honore vs. Vitter thread yesterdy numerous FReepers were racing to support Honore without regard to his policy positions. Talk about “stuck on stupid”.

This is going to be a tough one for the NAACP - wanting to honor a black man who was in charge of the Katrina recovery, while blaming the Republicans for not getting enough done....

I think he gives speeches to various organizations, NAACP included. I know nothing of his politics, rumors only that he will challenge Vitter. I will withhold judgment until he announces a political run. If he is a conservative African American, I don't see the problem, someone in LA should convince him to run against Landrieu.
Landrieu won’t be up for re-election until 2012. He should move to New Orleans and run for Mayor. But even if he won, he would never survive in the urban ‘rain forest’ that is NOLA politics.
I don't see him moving to New Orleans, maybe Melancon’s district. Here is excerpt of his speech to coca cola.

I’m not understanding what’s wrong with any politician speaking to an NAACP convention. Seems to me you should wait and see what he tells them before getting all worked up about it or holding it against him.
We (Louisiana) will probably be losing another congressional seat after the 2010 census. That will put us down to six. Melancon’s district will be the one sacrificed. The Cao (the old Jefferson) district will have to be maintained as majority AA.
If he’s a D, it would be nice if he could knock out Landrieu.
I’m not necessarily “holding it against him.” I merely posted it so Louisiana FReepers might be fully informed. Everything that a politician - or potential politician - does or says should be in the mix so as to allow informed voting choices.
Why pay these ingrates any attention?
