The mayor of Mount Vernon has made it official. Mayor Bud Norris says he will give the key to his city to conservative talk show host Glenn Beck on September 26.

Norris says Beck will deliver a short talk that night and become the first person to receive a key to the city in the six years Norris has been mayor.

Protesters from the Skagit County Young Democrats walked outside city hall Tuesday with protest signs, one reading "Change the locks!"

Good on him. He’ll take some flak from the mouth-breathers and I hope he holds firm.

Good on ol’ Bud not to cave to the pressure.

I may have to mosey down to city hall tonight to point at the picketers and laugh.

For being so far north of the metro area, it never ceases to amaze me how many moonbats occupy our bucolic little hamlet.

How far from the Oregon border is Mount Vernon?

Aim for Canada and stop about 60 miles short.

Bud’s a distant cousin of mine.

I remember his parents from when I was a kid. Mom and I would deliver two dozen eggs every week to their house.

They were a couple of old tarheel transplants in Sedro Woolley.

One thing about old hillbilly’s from North Carolina like Bud’s parents, my parents, grandparents, and a whole lot of others in the upper Skagit valley; they can spot the BS like nobody else, and they don’t take anything from a bunch of Seattle hippies.

Prayers for everyone.

From what I saw on Beck’s show, the protesters were 3 (THREE!!) guys with hastily magic markered poster board signs.
Bored college kids trying to get on TV.
The video was pretty funny in a pathetic way.
