Here is the body of letter [personal info redacted] I just dispatched to my own School District Superintendent and School Board Members:
Dear Doctor ______,

Barack Obama has announced that he wishes to address all school students on September 8th. It is reported that his staff has sent out letters to School Principals nationwide. They have prepared "educational" program material to go along with this.

Creepily and ominously the letter and the lesson plan material do NOT mention what the topic of the speech is to be. Yet the lesson plans make clear that Obama demands -- for to say that a man in such an office "strongly desires" something carries to the force of a strict command from regular folk. Barack Obama thus demands that the students should agree with what he says, find that it is important and act upon it.

My strong recommendation as a concerned citizen resident in this school district is that the district NOT participate in such an event, because the topic and subjects to be discussed are unknown.

For an everyday example we all know that as responsible adults it is unwise to allow oneself to be subjected to a sales pitch for time shares at some vacation resort or some multilevel marketing scheme. Why? Because as a captive audience it is tough not to have our minds stolen to some degree by the sales pitch or the con -- and let's face it, many of those things are cons.

If Mr. Obama wishes to address this group of our community let it be NOT as some captive audience. The children in a classroom or auditorium have no choice but to sit through such a speech. Nor is it wise or responsible for an adult in charge of such vulnerable young minds and spirits to allow anyone free access to them in a captive situation such as a classroom or auditorium without first reviewing and approving the lesson plan. A plan that MUST INCLUDE the subject to be discussed and what is to be discussed about it.

It is the absence of such statement from Obama about what he intends to discuss that makes this so creepy and ominous. That is why my subject line asked, "Is this dictatorial-like political indoctrination?"

See the Fox News report: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/02/critics-decry-obamas-lesson-plan-students/

I feel it is imperative that the responsible adults in charge of the student body of _________ School District do what is right in this case. And that is to not ever allow such a presentation no matter who asks to make it. Let them provide a video that may be reviewed for content first. And then decide if it is a worthwhile or good thing to do.

Please do not participate in this dictatorial indoctrination on September 8th. That is what it is at this point. Pure dictatorial political indoctrination.

It would be irresponsible to allow it, it would be a dereliction of your duty to the young charges who are your responsibility to protect and to build their intellects, spirits and morals.

Sincerely,
[name]
[town]

I have already called my sons’ high school, the Pinellas County school board, and the Dept. of Education in Florida. They said they don’t know anything about it. I asked them if there was any way they could keep it that way.

I plan on letting my kids ‘skip’ school that day. As someone else said on another thread, I might take them to the range...

It is actually through high school. In fact, if you read further into the message there is a project for middle schools and up for students to write letters to themselves on how they can support the president’s campaign.

It is sickening.

you think? It’s a last minute thing, I’m telling you. Those kids will be sitting in their seats and all of a sudden, the teacher will stop everything they’re doing and say, it’s time to watch the Savior of the Universe and those kids won’t be able to do a damn thing.

No, my kids are staying home that day. If the school wants to make a deal out of it and force them to participate by writing a paper about it for a grade, then the school will have to answer to me. Trust me. They DON’T want to do that. I am respectful but I am not quiet when it comes to my kids. The lioness comes out in me when my cubs are threatened, I don’t care how old they are.

I called my local school district, and they had not heard a thing about it as of yet. They are going to call me back. I told the lady on the phone that if they were going to do that I would not have my kids in school.

I got a call back almost immediately from the superintendent of the schools here who had gotten an email a couple of weeks ago she said. She told me that it had been forwarded on to the individual schools, but that only one small highschool had expressed any interest.

I told her that I didn’t feel that it was appropriate in the schools, when she asked me. She also asked me if I felt that this was something that should be told to parents if a school was going to participate in it. I said yes, I did. She asked what the program was supposed to be about, and I told her that I had heard it was about “what is the president? why should you listen to him” bla bla. and that I didn’t think that sort of propaganda had any place in the schools.

She told me that she would be talking to the Elementary school Principle my kid goes to and that parents would be notified if they school planned on doing this with the option to opt out if parents so choose.

Woo Hoo! This works for me.

She said that this had slipped under the radar and she was glad I had brought it to her attention again!

:)

my neighbor is Principal of the local high-school, and sadly, I get the feeling that if he resisted a directive from General-Secretary Obama he would quickly find himself on the unemployment line.

This has been brewing for a year. When school started back last week it didn’t take but one day to realize it would be detrimental for him to continue there. Think circus/prison/zoo all rolled into one institution.

When I was a teacher I saw other teachers play any video on the classroom tv that they wanted, save for blatant porno. It is usually left to the discretion of each individual teacher(union liberal thug). Most Principals will never know this happened unless the press and parent’s shine the light of day on it and/or do something proactively to prevent it.

What is so historic about it? The fact that no other President had the audacity to do it?

Would someone call the Feds and ask if they would consider providing an alternate lesson plan and worksheet the includes consideration of alternate opinions and the fact that their are other elected officials that the kids can “help” and they have the choice.

My grandson is well versed in the right way. He is 17 and pretty mature, so if he wants to go and take them on we will back him. It will be his decision. He and his JROTC buddies may have something cooked up, they are a patriotic bunch of kids.

The little kids are the ones I worry about.

Boycott the public schools.

Great idea! Let's leave the teachers union free to indoctrinate students unopposed! Genius!

Your kids will be educated in a private bubble, which works out great for now. But they will ultimately be outnumbered at the ballot box by those who were educated in the public school bubble.

Stand and fight, for God's sake! Your kids need to learn how to defend their ideals, the other students need to hear dissenting opinion, the teachers and boards need to be held accountable. Surrender is not a strategy for victory!

As Levine says, “Thank me” Made contact with Dr. Martin Ringstaff.

He confirmed that teachers have the discretion to view the Obamanation. He should know if it happens and will tell me post 9/8, as they are required to fill out a permission slip in order to show audio visual media to the kids(unless someone lies). He also agreed to review the lesson plan to determine if it was balanced or appropriate. He admitted to reading the dept of ed letter. He may also check with higher ups for guidance on the issue. Whoops should have asked him if he will offer parents an opt out provision and announce it to the school, teachers, and parents. Is he fine with kids skipping school to avoid this obamanation. Next conversation need to pin him down more, action or not much is accomplished but putting people on notice for anticipated blowback.

Love your photoshop! Here’s a caption:

“At this moment the entire group of people broke into a deep, slow, rhythmic chant of ‘B-B! .... B-B! .... B-B!’—over and over again, very slowly, with a long pause between the first ‘B’ and the second—a heavy murmurous sound, somehow curiously savage, in the background of which one seemed to hear the stamps of naked feet and the throbbing of tom-toms. For perhaps as much as thirty seconds they kept it up. It was a refrain that was often heard in moments of overwhelming emotion. Partly it was a sort of hymn to the wisdom and majesty of Big Brother, but still more it was an act of self-hypnosis, a deliberate drowning of consciousness by means of rhythmic noise.”

—Orwell, George (1949). Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Spoke with FL Dept. of Education. They said the school districts were sent a memo on August 31. They said the memo stated the webcast will be available, however, it is not mandatory.

I find this funny because when I spoke with the Pinellas County school board earlier, they said they were unaware of any such notification. Now, it could be that one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing (typical for government facilities) but one would think they would know about this.

Anyway, called back the school district and they said again they weren’t aware of any memo but would assume it would be up to each individual school and teachers to decide if they were going to show it to their classes. Which leaves it up to us to call our schools directly and voice our opinions that all teachers during the noon hour should not show this webcast to their students unless. It needs to be made clear that this sort of propoganda will not be tolerated, especially in our elementary schools.

This man has no shame, no morals. He’s creepy, and he will wilt in the light of God and His army - us, the American people.
