Conservatives are taking too much solace in the precipitous drop in Barack Obama's approval ratings, and too many of us are overconfident that his administration is merely a replay of the hapless presidency of Jimmy Carter that was easily swept out in a landslide election.
Today's situation is far different, far more conducive to our political adversary's political power, than that which faced Carter. And Obama is an entirely different breed of cat. He's more ruthless, more tactically savvy, and has far more dangerous objectives...
In short, the wonderful conservative success in August should not hide the reality that our backs are still against the wall. Obama still owns the upper hand. If we make any major mistake, he will use that hand as a fist to smash the conservative movement to bits. Clear-eyed about this possibility, conservatives must keep fighting. Uphill. Against the wind. And without a Reagan to lead us.

He's not paying attention to his falling popularity ratings BECAUSE he's competent - a competent revolutionary. It doesn't matter how many people "strongly disapprove" of him if "strongly disapprove" means "will vote for someone else in 3 years".
He intends his destructive works to be completed long before then. The type of leadership contest that occurs in 2012 (if one occurs at all) will be very different than anything that has gone before, and those who now "strongly disapprove" won't be participating.
Obama is a "by any means necessary" guy. Public opinion is less important to Obama than any other President - because he isn't like any other President.
Stay frosty.

Yep, it looks like Barry’s theory is do everything he can now to socialize the US. Obama is the Suicide Bomber President. He is willing to sacrifice himself to do as much damage to our capitalistic economy as he can.
I think Carter was dumb as dirt but not conciously evil. Criminally dumb. But Obama is evil to the core and fully concious of his actions.

Hm. I don't know...I see a resemblance in more ways than one (I made this a while back)...
All kidding aside, this is spot on.
I posted this a month or two ago in response to whether I though Barack Obama was deliberately trying to destroy the USA.
I agreed that I was of that opinion, and here is one of the reasons why:
Joseph McCarthy gave a speech on the Senate floor in 1951, and later wrote a book that expounded on and backed up his points that he made on the floor, called Americas Retreat from Victory.
Like many people, I was unwilling to attach any negative aspirations or actions to someone like George Catlett Marshall who was hailed as a war hero and one of the greatest men of the 20th century.
McCarthy was not so shy, and was willing not only to say what he thought publicly, but to back it up with documentation, which he did in his book mentioned above (A copy of which I purchased a couple of years ago)
It is a stunning book, but how it relates to this subject here is this: In his analysis, Joseph McCarthy made the point that if some of the things that were done by Marshall that helped the communists were simply the result of a poor analysis or choice on his part, someone with his intellect would be likely to choose correctly at least SOME of the time, as a matter of averages. And that rarely happened. Without fail, nearly every choice and action in which Marshall was part of, they all were to the advantage of both the Soviets and the Chicoms.
The same can be said of Obama, in my estimation. If the appalling cumulative negative bulk of his actions were due to his stupidity or inexperience, at least some of his actions would be helpful to our country, simply as a result of the laws of averages.
None are.
And that tells me something.
Sorry.. this ‘Quinn Hillyer’ assessment is more dangerous than the O himself. The only weapon against which they [obama & co] have no defense against is ridicule. Smart pols will insist he IS carter - a tangible and palatable failure, and keep hammering it. He is surrounded by the most hated batch of congressional dimwits in history, so we should make him OWN it. Plain and simple.

His mission to destroy freedom and Capitalism is going pretty good. If only he can stop the Pesky Americans who do not want to commit suicide on schedule.
Excellent article.
Bottom line: NEVER underestimate your opponent and NEVER EVER get over confident, especially thinking that your opponent will lose all by themselves.
Republicans, with only a very few exceptions, are far too close to liberals philosophically and too stupid and wishy washy as a general rule for anyone to think they can prevail. They just want to be liked and care more about being popular than they do about principle and doing the right thing.
Republicans SHOULD NOT attend this RIDICULOUS DOG AND PONY JOINT SESSION.
It is a cam to give the IMAGE of Obama forcing republicans to the table of socialism.
Each one of us need ask himself whether he is prepared to participate in winning a Congressional race in 2010. And our you actively working on it now? Fourteen months away.
this is a must read
Jim, sorry for the length of this post...but you are exactly right.
Obama doesn't care about what you or I or anyone else thinks. He is an abject marxist ideologue and he has his mechanism in place.
He didn;t go to the Whitehouse to be popular, he went there to bring fundmental change and he has been going about it very effectively since becoming President.
He and his cohorts caused the economic mess that helped usher him into the Presidency. They hate the free market and they hate fundamental republican principle. Since being elected they have methodically and with a will attacked both of these institutions and harmed them terribly.
It is their intent to bring them down and build a marxist command economy on their ashes. Evrything they are doing reflects this. From the stimulus, to the bail-outs, to the health care monstrosity, to Cap & Trade, FOCA, and on and on.
And all of what he has implemented are producing success from Obama's point of view. They are accomplishing exactly what he wants...he does not want to repair the economy, the auto industry, the banking and credit industries, energy, health care, etc., etc. as most Americans would define repairing them. He wants to fix it as in "the fix is in", as in controlling it.
And that is exactly what he is doing.
Obama will lie, blow smoke, deceive, cajole, and give as many Presidential speeches, presentations, addresses to congress, etc. as it takes to draw this out so he can continue progressing towwards his goals. When you understand this about him and his administration and the cohorts in the House and Senate...everything comes into focus.
Luckily, their over-reach on health care has awakened a large part of the American citizenry.
Because health care effects everyone, and because the American people intrinsically know that government bureaucracy makes things less efficient, the American people are downloading the Dem Health Care Plan HERE and elsewhere and reading it for themselves.
They are also reading the cited quotes of the main architect of the plan and Chief Advisor to Obama on Health Care HERE and elsewhere, and seeing the context of the plan from the designer of it.
So, when other Americans and conservatives like Sarah Palin declares that the PLan is a monstrosity and that it is downright evil, they know for themselves that it is true.
Thus, the American people (the proverbial giant) is waking up and the question is now can they wake up quickly enough, can they make such an out and out hue and cry and force enopugh democratic ad RINO representatives to be more afraid of then, the constituents for their political life than they are of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama and stop the Health Care plan.
Then, can they maintain that energy long enough to completely route the democrats, despite ACORN and voter fraud, in 2010?
I believe we can. And I hope and pray that the events in DC of 912 punctuate this and make it clear.
