“I believe it goes back to the families of these kids.”
Absolutely. The unwed mothers and welfare & drop out rate in the hispanic community is rampant.
Nice list, donna. Another ‘religion of peace’....where they celebrate death and burn their candles in our national parks and burn them down.

‘They can be stopped very easily. The government just doesn’t want to do it. I also contend that many politicians actually want these gangs to thrive.’
I agree. I think we could start by taking these lowlifes out in their own backyard. Some spec-ops raids might make them think twice. If not, just keep going until they’re gone.
A couple of days ago I did a search for the causes of the CA fires and found this:
In Southern California, the number of wildfires caused by people was around 4,000 between 2001 and 2005; 3,200 in 2006.
Increased sharply, to 5,140 in 2007 and 5,208 in 2008, according to the data.
Unless ALL substances capable of being abused are completely available to everybody, a black market niche will exist, which will be filled by the cartels, or somebody else.
Probably anybody can grow their own MJ, but most substances have a cost. People who become completely dependent will have to find a way to pay for their legal substances, so drug related crime will not go away.
For legalization to eradicate drug crime, any drug would have to be free, to anyone (including children) and any of those incapacitated by all those free drugs would have to be provided for by society, lest they commit crimes for food, shelter, etc. No matter how we address the drug problem, society, as a whole, will pay.

Alcohol is a good model. You can buy it at the store, some people make it and kids and a few others try to buy it on the street. How many gangs have gotten rich on alcohol since the end of prohibition?
No. Alcohol is ONE of MANY substances of abuse. It holds a unique place, not only in American culture, but in the culture of humankind for all of history. It is believed that susceptibility to alcohol addiction varies widely in the population.
Deaths from drunken driving are but a portion of the harm caused by the misuse if this drug. Even if alcohol were to disappear from the Earth, all of the other substances of abuse would still cause untold harm.

We have 18,000 Border Patrol Agents and thousands more in Federal, state and local law enforcement.
The Border Patrol itself is a repository of Navy SEALS, Special Forces, Marines and former SWAT members. Many Border Patrol Agents are combat vets from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Cartels can’t hold a candle to what we have. The problem is with the politicians.
The SW border could be sealed so that not a single illegal or drug load could pass. We have that much power. The politicians just have no will. The politicians don’t want the problem solved and that’s basically what all this boils down to.
Tell me how they can grow their own Heroin and Cocaine?

God speed. My heart aches for what you guys have to put up with.
Sounds like you want the government to protect us from our selves. Also, you ignored what I said about the negative effects of prohibition. If that war on drugs is working for you, then so be it.
You misinterpeted what I said. If all drugs were legal, you'd pick up some at the store if you want instead of your local MS13 or crip dealer.
Thanks for the kind words. Your heart need not ache for I do this job with a happy heart. It is indeed a priviledge to be a Border Patrol Agent and serve good people such as yourself and all FREEPERS.
>>”Sounds like you want the government to protect us from our selves.”
No. My message is simple. There is no easy, cheap, solution. Neither a half-baked “war on drugs,” nor “legalization.” Anything we do, or fail to do, will have a cost. Much like the illegal alien situation. What we are doing NOW isn’t working. Legalization (Amnesty) would bw much worse.

Oh, brother! My "feelings" have nothing to do with anything. I probably should have said, "I'm thinking. ..." Geeez! And, what do you mean, "IF people...". People ALREADY do that. Maybe you meant to say, "Since people..."?
