By selling it, it keeps the program alive for us in the future... as it stands now when the last bird is delivered, LM shuts down production and no more money into F-22 development.

I say sell that sucker!

Plus it means 95,000 US jobs are safe!

It is no wonder the world is perpetually in a state of war. Balance the books for the next generation of taxpayer subsidized weapons by selling soon to be obsolete technology to the fattest check.

I normally would agree with you. However is there a version of this plane that we can risk our enemies from getting?

The risk is not only these countries would become an enemy, its also there security isn’t all that great.

but then the chinese probably worked on the project. so much for secrecy

NO CO-DEVELOPMENT..! NO CO-PRODUCTION...!

No advanced AESA radar..! No fire control source-code...!

Black box the living shi* out of it, and sell off the SHELF..!

You get problem? FINE! OUR GUYS DO THE MAINTENANCE..!!!

You pay cash, then fly away with the finished units.

Oh yeah —no re-export. OF ANYTHING.

The UAE boondoggle is a reminder of this —the plane was FULL of US Harpoon anti-ship missiles headed straight to...

THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA.

Oh sure...! They’re our FRIENDS..! YEAH RIGHT...!

PARANOIA PAYS..!!!!!!!!

WE DON’T NEED OUR BOYS FLYING AGAINST RAPTORS...!!!

Do NOT sell under the wrong conditions, and maybe it’s best not to sell AT ALL..!

by selling soon to be obsolete technology

That's the crapola Obama and McCain want you to believe. The F-22 is years ahead of anything anyone else has.

I can see Israel, but the heart of the argument fro me is: Is there anything that the US has that will continue to be maintained as solely a US commodity?

I’m not an expert in current military technology. Is it obsolete? We both know that it’s just a flying computer. Not trolling, I really don’t know.

Yes I agree with you. Sell F-22s. Even if the hostile nations eventually gets the technology, it is still irrelevant because their pilots are not as well trained and they do not have the resources to purchase many F-22s anyway.

No, I know you're not trolling. The Raptor is at least 15 years ahead of anything else on the planet.

Currently the only developed fifth generation jet fighters are the F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lightning II according to sources.[4][5] US fighter manufacturer Lockheed Martin uses "fifth generation fighter" to describe these two airplanes, with the definition including "advanced stealth", "extreme performance", "information fusion" and "advanced sustainment".[6] It does not include supercruise, which has been associated with the more advanced modern fighters.

Stealth technology came from a rather obscure math paper in a Soviet science journal. The skunk found it.
