After retiring from the sport due to the birth of her baby girl, Kim Clijsters unretired from her 2 1/2 year hiatus to win the 2009 US Women's Singles Open by beating promising 19 year old, Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark, 7-5, 6-3.
Clijsters defeated the Williams sisters, Venus and Serena on her way to winning the second US open title of her career.

Kim Clijsters is one of only two MOTHERS to have won a major grand slam.
The first one was Evonne Goolagong of Australia in 1980.

Serena was fined $10,000 for her threatening comments in the Open. I’m guessing her taxes for playing in the State of New York are higher than that.
