The head of the FCC plans to propose new rules that would prohibit Internet service providers from interfering with the free flow of information and certain applications over their networks, an official at the agency said Saturday.

The Federal Communications Commission chairman, Julius Genachowski, will announce the proposed rules in a speech Monday at the Brookings Institution, a Washington think tank, the official said on condition of anonymity because news of the announcement had not been formally released.

Hey look, the leftists have a new 1984-like euphemism for “They Want To Control All The Information”

Chalk that one up alongside “Fairness Doctrine” and “Public Broadcasting” and Etc.

Agreed. For net neutrality (its a utility), against Obama minions and the demonrats doing the law on it.

Seems to me this will either slow everyone's Internet or increase prices across the board.

ISPs are jacking rates up anyway.

Ironically, we already have net neutrality: ISPs only charge for access speed, not content access. People who think ISPs want to bring television tiering and pricing to the internet are probably correct, but disregard the reality that their customer base would disintegrate overnight.

I sense the libtards would like to completely eliminate the free speech provisions of our Constitution so that the only voice heard across the country will be BIG BROTHER. Orwell’s vision is closer than ever to becoming reality, people.

Same thing here dennisw, if Obozo is for it, I’m suspect of anything Obozo supports.

Some folks are skeptical of Wikipedia, but they have a decent and balanced article about “net neutrality”:

"interfering with the free flow of information and certain applications"

Sounds to me like opening the way for government applications to be placed at some point all through the internet to free flow their information or to gather more information about us.

I see no Constitutional permission for the Federal government to be involved one way or another with private communications.

Maybe someone can enlighten me.

I cannot think of one move the 0bama administration/government has done that is innocuous.

Accept for maybe Michelle’s garden but even that is an insult when people are in food lines in Ca. because of a minnow fish so her husband and his cronies can build a worthless solar farm and make moola.

DSL? Won’t happen.

You’ll have to wait for WiMAX.

I’m generally in favor of net-neutrality but if passed and especially if implemented by the clown in the whitehouse...there WILL be unintended consequences.

The most likely of which will be the end of unlimited broadband and the universal adoption of metered service.
