He ought to resign from the Senate and let the citizens of WV have a senator who is able to function as such. Although I admit he is one of the few Dems with the fortitude to stand up for the Constitution against Obama, and there would be a loss in that area.

Senators like Thurmond, Kennedy, and Byrd are just props. Their staff write and run everything.

I've found myself with a strange affection for Byrd ever since I realized that. I also think that he's the ONLY Democrat with the gravitas to be their Howard Baker to Obama's Nixon.

I have my political differences with Byrd, but I sincerely wish him a speedy recovery. He is one of the few RATs who actually has some knowledge and appreciation of the U.S. Constitution.

Byrd’s standing up for the Constitution recently is something I missed. With our contemporary politicians, ‘pubbies or ‘rats, do we still have a Constitution?

I don’t think he’s been a regular show-up at the Senate for at least four years. If you toss in the mental test....he’s been lacking for six years. The sad thing is that the folks in WV would vote again today for this guy...if they had to.
