Goldberg did not really defend him....she just tried to clarify what he pled too and was convicted of.

I agree her parsing was goofy but I missed seeing her say what he did was ok..

and I watched it with my wife ...because the cows were talking about this...Melissa Gilbert excepted...she is no cow...she looks good actually

Women tried to bring attention to rape as a serious crime for decades. So they changed their tactic. They argued that rape is a violent crime, not a crime about sex, but violence.

So now- apologists try to distinguish a difference between one rape from another rape. In their minds, if the victim was not threatened by a knife or gun, or beat up, etc- then it is not violent, not “really a rape”

I would love to hear Whoopi call Oprah and tell Oprah that her child rape wasn’t really a rape...I mean if the victim in this case was some Hollywood elitist and the rapist were some rich Republican that fled for thirty years, there would be an entirely different tone.....

This is what I wrote to Toys R Us:

I came to the Toys R Us website to shop for two of our children's birthdays and to look for Christmas presents, and saw Whoopi Goldberg on the main page.

I find it beyond disgusting that you are prominently advertising Ms. Goldberg, who has been featured on every news station today, claiming that Roman Polanski's drugging and rape of a 13 year old girl, for which *he* *was* *convicted* wasn't actually "rape".

Far be it for me to tell you how to do business, but I can tell you this: I will not be doing business with a toy store who thinks using an apologist for child rape is a good idea.

I will be boycotting Toys R Us until you remove Ms. Goldberg from your advertising and will be asking my friends, family, and co-workers to do so as well.

Featuring this person on a toy store's website is vile ans disgusting. Have you no shame?

Okay, put the very best face on it that the defense can claim: [enter character assassination mode] Samantha was very mature and worldly for her 13 years. She knew Polansky was a famous director and could help her immensely in her budding acting career. She not only consented, she actively encouraged Polansky. It was only afterwards, when he didn't give her the fame she craved, that she concocted a story to punish Polansky and gain notoriety for herself. [end character assassination mode]

Even if all this is true (and don't get me wrong, I'm not saying any of it is!) it doesn't excuse the fact that he had relations with a minor who was 30 years younger than him!

Sad to say, Whoopi, but that's RAPE, no matter the circumstances. What part of "age of consent" do you not understand? Regardless of Samantha's actions, he RAPED her by legal definition. If Polansky walks, there are thousands of statutory rapists serving time who are being imprisoned unjustly. Would you like them released in your grandchildren's neighborhood?

I note with disgust that your paid endorser, self proclaimed “child advocate” Whoopi Goldberg, has publicly and vociferously decried the extradition of convicted child rapist Roman Polanski. How any human female could dismiss his crime as “not rape, rape” eludes my comprehension of all that is good and just. Until Ms. Goldberg denounces this position, or you denounce her as an endorser, I promise you that I will not spend another dime with any of your enterprises. Additionally, I will encourage others to withhold their support of your operation as well.

I am writing to tell you that I am appalled that a company selling toys, the symbol of innocent childhood, would have someone like Whoopie Goldberg as a spokesperson. Are you aware she recently stated that a man pumping a 13 year old girl full of pills and alcohol, and then raping and sodomizing her, isn’t guilty of “rape rape”? The man who raped this child pled guilty and then flouted the laws of our country for decades. Your spokesperson to children and families is defending this man.

Are you saying that Oprah was raped? I had heard she was molested (I'm never sure what that really means - it somehow sounds less serious than rape), and that she became promiscuous as a result. If Oprah denounces Polanski, here's where Oprah can do some real good. I wonder if she will. Like her or not, she's got a lot of influence.
