“Even in light of this new evidence, the circumstances surrounding Hitler’s death are better documented and more thoroughly investigated than Obama’s birth.”
Ouch!
“The scientists were not authorized to take samples from this fragment.”
Then the whole “study” was worthless. DNA is the only way to be sure, and they’re not allowed to take DNA samples. Hitler has both living and dead relatives with DNA that it could be cross checked with. Just a few years ago, foreign experts declared that the skull the Russians had in their possession belonged to a 40 year old woman. Now they’re “sure” it’s Hitler, without DNA? Bulls#!t.
Not even Bormann got out alive at the end.
Jawohl.
...I think I saw that movie...
He probably died in Argentina with the rest of the nazis.Nah, he's still alive, living in a nice cul-de-sac along with JFK, Elvis, and Michael Jackson.
I think there's an old topic about that as well. He wound up getting capped while waiting for a companion (both were carrying false papers and in disguise, to attempt to walk out to the western allied forces), was found dead at the rendezvous, and I forget, the companion had to help bury Bormann and some others. Years on, he was tasked with finding the location, and the remains were dug up. I've seen a photo of the skull, definitely his (kinda weird lookin' head on that guy). There's been an undercurrent that Bormann was a Soviet mole and was the person evac'd from The Bunker after the fall of Berlin (a single figure, trenchcoat, hat, dark glasses, emerged from the lair and waiting an hour or so out front. Red Army crews cleared the debris from the street, and were followed by a staff car, into which the mole was ushered), but the Bormann family rejects the entire notion, accepts the official account of his death.
Can't imagine Hitler, with Braun and party in tow, could possibly have made it out.
More important, what would be his motive? Hitler and his inner circle knew from 1944 if not 1943 that this was a fight to the death. Given what they had perpetrated with the Holocaust, capture would inevitably lead to an ignominious death. Maybe Bormann thought he could somehow cheat his fate, but Hitler knew he never could once Berlin had fallen.
Hitler seems to have been convinced that the last stand would use up the Red Army, buying some breathing space to regroup. Once Berlin was surrounded he sent at least one message, to a general in command against the western allies, to attack the surrounding Red Army so Berlin could be evacuated. The general ignored the order, which would have been futile, even suicidal.
There is a bit of a story here which one might reflect upon. Hitler dies on 30 Apr 1945 (one way or another). The Soviets are entering Berlin and come upon the bodies of both Hitler and Eva. They recover the bodies and for about eight weeks...go through an autopsy procedure (without any Brit or American viewers).
Toward July-timeframe....someone from Moscow calls and orders them to dispose of the body. They take a small crew and go out into a heavily wooded area that is about an hour’s drive southwest of Berlin. They dug the hole and dump Hitler and Eva into an unmarked grave area. Mission accomplished.
Seven months go by....Moscow calls again. Now, they want the Soviet military in eastern Germany to pick up Hitler’s body (with Eva) and bury them on a Soviet Army post (about an hour’s drive from the woods).
I have my doubts that they (the Soviets) were able to find the unmarked grave site, and sought to just find bodies that fit the situation. So some bodies were delivered and a new burial site existed on the Soviet post.
Roughly 20 years would pass, and this post was going to be shut down. Orders again came from Moscow.....they were to dig up the bodies, then burn the bodies (whatever remained) and toss the ashes in a nearby river. The skull fragments are what they retained.
