Glenn Beck apologized to the White house today for using the "Vancouver" Olympics on his TV show last night as his example of an Olympics that lost money when he meant to say the "Calgary" Olympics. I guess the White House is making a big deal out of this error. When I heard him apologize on his radio show today, I thought, I watched that show and I could have swore he said Calgary. I just went back and re watched that portion of his show and I was right, he said Calgary. Just in case somebody else already hasn't set the record straight, I wanted to be the first. Sorry if this is already common knowledge.
Beck should have said “I apologize to all 57 states”.

Pretty pathetic that's the best the WH can get him on.
Calgary, not Vancouver!!!!
*sniff*
I don’t see any problem with Beck making this error. The meatheads in the White House didn’t know whether or not it was Calgary either. I imagine they had some bonehead intern look it up.
More opportunities.....
Judging by how loudly they squawk when Glenn actually does make a verifiable error it should give us tremendous confidence in all the things tell us that the White House remains silent on.
The Calgary Winter Olympics ended up with a $919 million debt.
Barcelona Olympics left a $1.4 billion debt, and Sydney' Olumpics ended up with a $2.3 billion debt, and the Nagano games are going to "be paid off by future generations".
The White House "truth squad" sure screwed up on that one Fur Shur.
I don't think those folks who were originally described as "geniuses of the Internet" know how to look up facts. I'm beginning to believe they don't understand what facts are, or that others can read and do research.
This is all so typically Chicago ~ so tacky, so cheap, so disgustingly ignorant.
The Danes would do well to send the Chicago crowd packing.
BFD. The US doesn’t have 57 states, either.
And when they do, won’t the look on Michelle’s face be precious. ;-)
Exactly. Gave him the opportunity to bring up Vancouver and how the 2010 Olympics are already over budget. Snap!

No, he played a replay of the clip where he said Vancouver. He probably said "Calgary" at one point and just made a simple mistake and referred to it as "Vancouver" at a different point in the discussion. He does that kind of stuff all the time (riddled with ADD, and all that).

Yes, he corrected himself on the city, changing from Vancouver to Calgrary. But he failed to mention that the amount he mentioned (when he said Vancouver) was also off by a factor of about 3. Calgary officially made money on their winter Olympics in 1988. I think they reported $100 million to $150 million in profits. Although independent audits have shown that they left out significant subsidies and expenses when they anounced their profits. So, after auditing and including everything I seem to remember it was around a $300 million loss. Still, that isn’t “what, a billion” that Beck Claimed.
It is pathetic that with everything happening in the world, the White House devotes so much time and effort to tracking Beck’s “facts.” There must be something more productive that they could be doing.
However, Beck has stepped into the line of fire. You would think he would try to verify his facts before he says these things. Or his staff even might look into things a bit.

Didn’t Atlanta have a deficit?
With the way DC runs I’m surprised anyone there can tell a positive number from a negative one. [/sarc][cynic]

Beck is doing what he always does, setting the dimocrats up for a fall.
