Obama Cuts Off Funding for Iranian Human-Rights Documentation
National Review ^ | Oct 6, 2009 | Michael Rubin

Posted on 10/06/2009 7:08:45 PM PDT by nuconvert

I've got to say, even for the Obama administration, this is a real shocker.

The Clinton State Department has decided to cut off all funding for the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC), which was compiling lists of protestors imprisoned in this summer's unrest, as well as those who were killed in the crackdown.

IHRDC is what human-rights advocates should be: methodical, precise, and apolitical in their work. And yet, the Obama administration has, without explanation, cut off all federal funding to the group which has consistently fulfilled its mandate.

Anyone, across the political spectrum who has any interest in human rights in Iran keeps the IHRDC reports on their desks.

Pelosi likely believes that Zer0 is lying to her.

Come to think of it, I don’t remember Pelosi making any speeches about the Iranian protesters who were beaten, jailed and killed. Maybe she only cares about human rights when the Dalai Lama is in town?

The hypocrit Obama wants to turn loose the Gitmo killers while he allows Iran to hold demonstrators of the unlawful election to remain in prison.

This guy is a Muslim and is working to destroy us.

The Iranian students were anti-Bush and pro-Clinton. But, world-wide, partially educated kids with no life experience usually lean to the left.

What? And this, in advance of a building difficult situation we have to trust Obama and Clinton to negotiate - Iran's rush to nuclear weapons, which some only newly acknowledged as existing (right...). It's not like the IHRDC hasn't had any work to do...

So? Since when was Obama in favor of human rights? How do you spell appeasement?

But isn’t this an unconstitutional action, like the Congressional defunding of ACORN? /sarc>

Something about gooses and sauces comes to mind.

OTOH, this must be legal, because they aren’t helping the Obamasiah’s agenda.

I think Obama made a deal with the mullahs even before he was elected. Obama would abandon Israel and accept Iran’s nuclear weapons program in exchange for Iran dropping support of insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan and normalized relations. What doesn’t get much play in the news is the September indictment of Hassan Nemazee, an Iranian-American fund-raiser for Obama and other Democrats. Nemazee allegedly defrauded Bank of America, HSBC and Citigroup Inc out of more than $290 million in loan proceeds.

“The Iranian students were anti-Bush and pro-Clinton” No, they weren’t

They certainly were anti-Bush. You must not have been following their Tweets during the elections.

I followed their tweets every day and have been following Iran intensely years.

The pro-democracy students have not been anti-Bush, though they do feel he let them down by not getting rid of the regime.

If you would like to provide links to support your statement that “The Iranian students were anti-Bush and pro-Clinton”, I would be happy to continue this discussion.

0bama & Co.: hold their hands over their ears "la, la, la, I can't hear you", thinking it will absolve them of any responsibility to witness and support REAL issues of justice in the world.

He is so craven.

I wonder if he's full of Shiite?
