National FairTax Campaign Begins(Fair Tax Exceeds $250,000) Goal!
Americans For Fair Taxation ^
Posted on 10/07/2009 4:24:59 PM PDT by Man50D
The FairTax National Victory Campaign Fund has reached and exceeded our launch goal of $250,000. We will soon begin reaching out to all 140,000,000+ voters in every one of the 50 states to sign on for FairTax Victory. We will be on the internet, telephones and in voters mailboxes all across the country for sure starting in October. We are even trying to work out a television show, which would be a great step forward for your FairTax, and enable us to reach so many more voters effectively.

The fair taxers in congress, which includes members of both parties will be they let you keep 20% of what you earn. Now aren’t we fair?

Seriously. Right now, I classify the FTA about right up there when they’re gonna award me a lifetime pension for being a consistent taxpayer. I’d put my energies elsewhere at this juncture.

I fear if this gets implemented it will be a half measure, it will just be a new tax on top of the old tax. In other words the existing tax code will stay in place with a fair tax as a bias.

I can’t believe anyone actually supports this. A true FLAT tax is the way to go. If it’s good enough for God, it should be good enough for the gov.

You need to read it before you bash it. One of the main things in it says you cannot initiate until the 16th Amendment is repealed.
Right now you are taxed 7 times before you buy a product. Fair tax would make that 1 time. It would bring jobs and the wealth of our nation back home.

Wrong because you still have the embedded taxes in the product.

I think FairTax would be terrific, but have to agree, not a chance with this Congress and President. The very reason for FairTax is to STOP what we see going on, but the people who are doing it must vote "for" FairTax. Barney voting to cut off his spending ... uh, I doubt it!

The Fair Tax Act(HR25/S296)clearly states in the bill it will replace all federal income taxes with a national sales tax and abolish the IRS.

The Fair Tax has experienced a growing grassroots movement since Americans For Fair Taxation spearheaded the movement in 1995. The $250,000+ was raised in only about a month. It is not going away.

The Fair Tax is a flat tax but on consumption instead of productivity.
A flat tax on income has been tried and failed miserably. It's out current income tax code. When the 16th Amendment was enacted in 1913 people were taxed 1% on their first $20,000 and 7% on income over $500,000. Less than 1% of the population earned in excess of $500,000 in 1913 making it essentially a flat income tax. As we know that has evolved into the multi tiered convoluted, oppressive system we have today. Another flat income tax will evolve back into what we have today only faster thanks to the thousands of lobbyists that exist today that didn't exist in 1913.

Neither Congress nor the President are in charge. The people are in charge. The purpose of all the tea party rallies has been to remind politicians of that fact. The growing Fair Tax grassroots is one part of people standing up to the Federal government. If people are willing to defy the whole government then they shouldn't have any problem standing up to a part of the government. In this case the federal income tax code and the IRS.

It’s ridiculous to think to think a flat tax will be tinkered with but a “fair tax” won’t. Sorry, you can’t have it both ways. I said I wanted a TRUE flat tax. THAT has not been tried here. What we have now is NOT a TRUE flat tax. We have the mess you desribed, which is nowhere near a TRUE flat tax. Again, if a FLAT tax is good enough for God (it’s what he required of the Hebrews in the OT), then a FLAT tax ought to be good enough for the government. It’s really, really hard to out-think God.

Care to elaborate instead of a vague blanket statment?

You're right it isn't flat tax now! My point with the history of the income tax is that it was a flat income tax but has grown into something much more than a flat tax on income and it will happen again with another flat income tax.

I thought it was pretty clear. Just how is it that a "fair" tax will be impervious to "tinkering"?
The fact that we don't have anything resembling a FLAT tax because it's been butchered to death does not mean that a FLAT tax isn't the answer. It means we need a TRUE FLAT tax and to stick with it.
For the THIRD time now, if a FLAT tax is good enough for God it should be good enough for the government. As I recall God didn't say "don't do flat tithing! It'll be tinkered with!"

Ok. I'll rephrase my seemingly simple question. What specific provision or provisions in The Fair Tax bill, that I'm sure you have read in great detail, do you feel will be tinkered with?
