OSLO President Barack Obama on Friday won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples, the Norwegian Nobel Committee said.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the worlds attention and given its people hope for a better future, the committee said. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the worlds population.
Obamas name had been mentioned in speculation before the award but many Nobel watchers believed it was too early to award the president.

Barf!!
He was nominated after having only been in office for two weeks! Double barf!
Someone on another thread said the deadline for nominees for the prize had to be submitted by Feb 1st ... 2 weeks after he took office!
Everybody knows just how manipulable a narcissist is. This plays to Obama’s ego and empty desk presidency.
LOL
Nominated after two weeks as president.
LOL
Just when you thought Nobel credibility was long gone when they picked the Goron over Irena Sendler. The pick Mr “Shut up, I won” for strengthening diplomacy.
LOL
First time I ever got to laugh out loud to start the day.
It really is hilarious, isnt it.
But he’s in good company with Arafat, Carter, and assorted other America haters.
I’m glad this is a non-partisan award that is decided on merit.
JUst what did he do to get the prize?????????????????
Scum Bag Delays Generals Request For More Troops Awaiting Nobel Peace Prize Annoucement....... Guess thats not a headline we’ll see tomorrow!!!
Good thing they don’t give a Nobel for economics, he would have won that too.
The worst thing about this is where hell can you move to.
You just can’t make this **** up.
Hey! If they think obama’s so great, they’re more then welcome to take his sorry butt off our backs.
Any bets on how fast congress gets around to introducing a resolution recognizing the president’s great acheivement?
I’m betting we’ll here about it before noon.
This is a pre-emptive award in recognition of his pre-emptive surrender in Afghanistan and elsewhere. I think I'll move to France.
I think it is also intended to immunize the bastard against removal from office.
There is. Paul Krugman recently won one.
Did they do resolutions for Gore and Carter?
If not they should do one for all three of them—the 3 Appeasement Stooges.
