Dems undermine free speech in hate crimes ploy
Washinton Examiner ^ | October 13, 2009 | Byron York

The bill was finished. When it was returned to the House last week for final passage, there was just one vote; lawmakers could either vote for the whole package or against it. They could vote to fund the troops, which would also mean voting for the hate crimes bill, or they could vote against the hate crimes provision, which would also mean voting against funding the troops.

At decision time, 131 of the Republicans most opposed to the hate crimes measure voted against the whole bill. Their vote "against the troops" will no doubt be used against them in next year's campaign, which was of course the Democratic plan all along. The bill passed anyway, with overwhelming Democratic support.

Pubbies would be wise to use their mail money to send out flyers with a simple message ...

A brief explanation of how ammendments get attached to bills, and THAT is why I voted against this bill.

The flyer I get from my rep (dem) is glossy pictured, ribbon cutting fluff and no news nor insight as to why the flyer was sent.

Just report to us ... we'll decide.

The Republicans need to take it to the American people RIGHT NOW! Stand up, tell the people (the uninformed) what is going on.....

NEVER vote for something that contains bad, mixed in with good. Its no excuse to vote for it. Just explain it to the public when asked about it. Only cowards will vote for it

I'm waiting for an announcement that there will be a vote on what date and what time the Democrats and Republicrats Communists in Congress will be placed in custody, appear before a military tribunal, convicted for their acts of treason, and then sent to one of many gallows constructed on the steps of the Capitol.

I will urge my Representative to vote FOR that measure (assuming they are not one of those taken into custody).

When we re-take our government back, all “hate-crimes” legislation must be repealed. A crime is either a crime or it isn’t. As people much smarter than I have pointed out, “hate crimes” are the domain of government thought police and they assume that certain crimes are committed on the basis of a hatred one person may feel toward another.

IOW, “hate crimes” legislation are as stupid as the people who wrote them . . . . . . . oh, POLITICIANS!!!!!

I know this practice of throwing the unpopular in with the popular has been used by both parties as a billy club against the other for some time but this is just terrible government and has to stop. Each bill by law should cover one topic, and one topic only, whatever that may be.

NEVER vote for something that contains bad, mixed in with good.

This is exactly why any bill in ANY legislative body needs to cover one topic and one topic only. No riders, no hidden agendas, just one bill, one topic.

By forcing the politicians to limit each bill to one topic, we can end these stupid political "show 'n tell" games.
