If Obama Had Told Us Before His Election

If Barack Obama had campaigned on what he has actually done in his first 300 days in office, would he have been elected? That's the question so many are asking today.

If Obama had told us he would appoint 34 czars, reporting only to himself and not vetted or confirmed in the constitutional way, building a powerful unitary executive branch of government, would he have been elected? What if he had told us that his green jobs czar had been a Communist, that the science czar wrote in a college textbook that compulsory "green abortions" are an acceptable way to control population growth and that the diversity czar has spoken publicly of getting white media executives to "step down" in favor of minorities?

If Obama had told us he would take over the automobile industry faster than any socialist dictator ever nationalized an industry, fire the CEO of General Motors and replace him with a Democratic Party campaign contributor, would Obama have been elected? If Obama had campaigned on closing down thousands of profitable car dealers, nearly all Republicans, would we have believed that this vindictive financial retaliation against those who didn't vote for Obama could happen in America?

If Hugo Chavez, the communist who nationalized most of Venezuela's industries, had said before the election that "Comrade Obama" would nationalize the U.S. automobile industry and Chavez would "end up to his right," would anybody have believed it?(snip)

If Obama had declared during his campaign that his first major speech abroad would be to the Muslim world and that he would proclaim in Muslim Turkey that "one of the great strengths of the United States is ... we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation," would he have been elected? (snip)

For everyone who says it is all Bush’s fault that we got Obamao, remember the left has been trying to do this far-left reach for EIGHT YEARS - this didn’t “just happen” because of Bush!

No, it certainly didn't. The evidence was there, the data was marshaled, well enough in advance of 2008.

If you'll pardon the expression, they had their chance---they did not lead.

We proclaim ourselves, as indeed we are, the defenders of freedom, what's left of it in the world, but we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home.---Edward R. Murrow.

He did tell us
"we are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America."

A lot of people just didn't listen or pay attention (or read between the lines). Obama may be a liar, but there are a lot of things this man has said prior to the election, that reveal what his plans were/are.

The question shouldn't be if he had told us, it should be if more people had listened, paid attention and took seriously what he did say...he would NOT be president.

He lied to everyone else, including religious black Christians who are socially conservative and oppose abortion and same sex relations.

Unfortunately, most of those "religious black chr*stians" seem to put race ahead of any and all other considerations (though they won't vote for an "uncle tom" like Alan Keyes or Clarence Thomas).

I lost all confidence in the Black church long ago. It's nothing but American Protestantism's domestic Armenian Church--all ethnicity and no theology.

Not if one of the things he’s done is grant amnesty to illegals and given them voting rights.

I would argue that the actual church-attending, Jesus following, neighbor loving black population is much more prone to vote Republican, but that doesn’t get picked up in polling out of
A) peer pressure to be silent about political views
B) blacks wearing Republican stickers get ignored by pollsters
C) voter fraud (look at Detroit)

Besides, since 1988, only Dole in 1996 was a decent front-running Republican to vote for. God fearing blacks won’t generally vote for a Republican they know to be a hypocrite.

What the Hell do you mean “if he had told us”?

Anyone here on FreeRepublic could have told you most of what is going on now.

The real question here is: How can American voters be this stupid?

I wish you were right, but I long ago lost all faith in the "actual church-attending, J*sus following, neighbor loving black population."

Dole wasn't too much to write home about either, but I don't think most Blacks will vote for a Republican under any circumstances.

“Yup...remember the Joe the plumber exchange. Many very quickly forget it.”

Even worse, they fell for the lies and the “jokes” by the MSM that covered for what SHOULD have been his Joe the Plumber disaster and they didn’t understand the nature of what a FREE REPUBLIC should be...

Yep. Basically, the neocons (W), have been offering Democrat-Lite solutions and like Tanner’s books asys (paraphrasing), if the choices are a little of everything (Repugs) or a lot of everything (Demoncrats), then people are going to choose the “a lot” option!

I have been saying for years, Repugs can NEVER out spend the Demoncrats, they can only open the door for the Demoncrats to spend more. There were doors and corridors that even the Demoncrats were not willing to go down. But even though the Repugs only open the door a little and offer a tiny taste, the Dems now go whole hog and kick the door open. And it is the Repugs fault for even opening the D@MN door (No Child Left Behind is a perfect example).

The Department of Indoctrination is one of the most USELESS departments in the US Government. So, instead of getting rid of the thing, the Bush Neocons said, “Lets make it more prominent, let’s SHOW the people that we Repugs care!” That opened the door to a whole new level of funds to actually force a Federal level mandate for acceptable foods, classes, etc... A little gets turned into a lot. As much as the Dems have a closet full of bad results of good intentions, the new Reps helped usher in a large portion of those by saying “let’s show America that we ‘care’!”

The best way to show someone that you care about them is to give them opportunities and then get the HE!! out of the way and let them flourish. If they don’t, then that is not your fault - you gave them everything they needed; you gave them “a chance!”
