I should add that they have a claim against the justice of the peace personally under that statute.

What a maroon.
By the way I have (very good friends) who are an "inter-racial" couple and they are getting along just fine after a decade of successful marriage.

This JP is off his rocker. I have several friends in interracial marriages, all of which have lasted over 25 years.

I have encountered only one successful Euro-Black marriage. Cultural differences between American blacks and other racial and/or ethnic groups are, in my opinion, at the root of this incompatibility. This has not been my experience, based on the little burg in which I live.

Yeah, I know a pile of interracial couples. As a matter of fact, I know very few black couples that are still together.

If the woman (or possibly the man) being the white party is a ghetto punk chaser, trouble is brewing.
But if we are talking about the 5% of blacks who would not vote for Obama, there is bright hope.

Wooooeee! Of all the dumb things to do at this point in time. I hope he is prepared to meet Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton shortly. You know those 2 will be down there in a heartbeat complaining about the disenfranchised couple.
Other than that, he should've given them the marriage license.

And the three interracial couples I know have been together for more than 30 years. My wife and I just past the 15 year mark. Our kids are all fine and happy. They've heard the occasional stupid comment and some people have suggested they choose between their Samoan heritage or being white. I really like what Rod Woodson said at his NFL Hall of Fame speech this year:
God made us all of one blood and spirit. You people who have mixed marriages, tell your children ... we dont have to choose. God made you what you are.
To: Petronski
It would be interesting to have a part-black or racial-mix caucus on FR, just to stick a thumb in the eye of the few bigots still around.

You kidding? Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will act as if they never heard of it. They are bigots as much as this “Justice.”

Cultural differences between American blacks and other racial and/or ethnic groups are,Oh, right. Because all Blacks have the exact same culture, and by extension all Euros and Hispanics have the same culture. /sarc P.S. Learn to use the internet. There are plenty of IR couples that have lasted for a long time.

I was thinking that exact thing as I was posting my comment. This might be small potatoes for them. After all, they are tied up with the Limbaugh thing now.

White Supremacist David Duke won Tangipahoa Parish in the 1991 Louisiana Gubernatorial race. If this kind of racist garbage could happen anywhere, it could happen in Tangipahoa Parish.

Part of this is the bigotry still reflected in such things as official government forms. They’ve gone beyond colored/white, but the major source races are the only ones represented. You are at best an Other if you are part American Indian and part Asian, or something like that. I wish the liberals would live up to their claimed beliefs (and that of Martin Luther King) and eliminate these half-baked characterizations.

Tangipahoa Parish is the home of the Spears family of Kentwood. It also voted for David Duke for Governor in 1991.
