The White House’s effort to target a news organization like Fox is vaguely Nixonian. The case put forward by the pro-Mao political theorist Anita Dunn is filled with errors and erroneous statements. (See Chris Wallace’s comments during this segment.) And the willingness of liberal commentators like Jacob Weisberg to act as an attack poodle on behalf of the Obama White House is both predictable and discrediting. Frankly, we’re seeing “progressives” explode in outrage at Fox not only because their previous media monopoly has ended but also because Fox is so enormously popular (it’s home to the top-10-rated cable-news programs in America and 13 of the top 15).
It is one thing to set the record straight when specific false charges are made by individual reporters and commentators. But the tactic of a blanket attack against a network like Fox will, I think, end up damaging Barack Obama. The public generally wants its president to act as an adult, mature and relatively high-minded, focused on the problems of the day rather than on targeting media outlets. And it is more evidence of the fictional claim by Obama that he would “resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long”; that “the times are too serious, the stakes are too high” for the same old political-attack tricks; and that he alone would elevate public discourse and serve as a unifying figure for America. Barack Obama is, in fact, turning into one of our most divisive political figures in memory – and he’s become that in less than nine months.
This whole anti-Fox gambit will come across to a lot of people as misguided and petty, the product of a White House that is unusually thin-skinned and somewhat paranoid – and, perhaps, as one that can’t be trusted with power.
I know that some liberals pride themselves on being “elite” and “educated” and prefer other news sources. But, when you consider the high ratings for Fox News, they are clearly attracting an audience. On many days, I hear that Fox News has a greater audience than CNN, MSNBC, and Headline News combined.
Do liberals really think that everybody watching Fox News is a knuckle dragging Neanderthal? Not that the left would ever stereotype people that way, because that’s bigoted, and the left never engages in bigotry.
So I guess we’re supposed to watch Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann and the Ed Show for “nuanced, balanced, even-handed news analysis”????????
The 'public' didn't care when Clinton acted like an over-sexed high school senior. They'll likely not give a rat's arse how Zero's administration treats a network they deem as "faux", either.
Of course they do, they have no competition. Think about it. Leftist news organizations compete with each other. Who competes with Fox for the viewership of those who do not want to watch leftist news?

If Fox backs down it will be a lesson for Fox and all other news outlets. If Fox does not back down and does not suffer any consequences -Obozo loses face Big Time.
Whatever the case, this wolf has the biggest ears; and teeth that make for a serious chomping and a timeless MO and warning, to be heeded.

Drudge is reporting that the White House picked out the clothes of Sotomeyer. The worm turns,.....where is the outrage?
Fox and all liberty-loving citizens everywhere, of whatever political Party or none, should examine their Constitution's position on this matter. Read what the Founders and early Presidents said about it, use it as a "teaching moment" (sound familiar?) for the nation.

Fox should place this final Jefferson statement on its screen prior to each program as a means of educating the electorate on the role of the press in a free society.
The alphabet networks have dominated interpretation of news for so long that many citizens never have stopped to think that their opinions may have been manipulated in a manner which may not have included a search for truth.
No, but i think the idea is to make those liberal "intellectuals" who watch Fox News think that they are not watching the news at all since the 0bama administration has deemed Fox "not a legitimate news organization".
On Brett Baier’s show this afternoon...I thought I saw a piece that was pretty much FOX throwing the gauntlet down at the Whitehouse.
