Taipei (AFP) Oct 19, 2009
China now has about 1,500 missiles pointed at Taiwan, with no signs that the build-up is about to stop anytime soon, a spokesman for the island's government said Monday.
The figure includes short-range ballistic missiles and cruise missiles, the defence ministry spokesman told AFP on condition of anonymity.
"The number of missiles has been rising. We don't know when it will stop increasing," said the spokesman.
He was speaking ahead of the release Tuesday of the ministry's annual report, which will include an updated estimate of China's military capabilities.
In its National Defence Report for 2008, the Taiwan government estimated that China had deployed 1,300 missiles in the area near the island.

Ping!
They will invade soon, Obama and the UN will voice their EXTREME displeasure. Walmart will go bankrupt.
China knows Bammy will not lift a finger to help Taiwan.
Has the Zero ever articulated any kind of position on Taiwan? If not, at this point China may simply be waiting for him to do so; as soon as they know for sure that he has left them flapping in the wind like so many other friends of the US, those missiles will fly.
Taiwan may not be China but it is Chinese and a heck of a lot more resourceful than a 3rd rate country like Cuba.
Like Israel, only a stab in the back by the US can make Formosa surrender without a massive unsustainable slaughter of any who would attack her.
“Walmart will go bankrupt”
So will China. I think we would see a worldwide boycott of their crap.
A known, nothing new here.
So point 10,000 back at them. At least go out in a blaze of glory.
Nothing new and I know where they are located.
The DF-15 missiles are stored at the Jiangxi base, some 200 kilometers away from the Yungan and Nanping bases. Yongan and Nanping have direct railway links with the headquarters of the 815th ballistic missile brigade of the PLA in Jiangxi Province’s Leping, and three to four hours would be required to transport missiles from Leping to Yongan via railway.

Taiwan needs to leak information that they have more than a dozen nuclear tipped balistic and cruise missiles. If they had a serious retailitory threat, China would probably leave them alone. Especially, if they were able to hit Bejing and possibly take out Chinese leadership and their families. JMHO
I have wondered if class action law suits are in the works for companies who distributed cheap and toxic chinese drywall. You know, Lowes and Homedepot in particular.
