National Review: Palin to endorse Doug Hoffman in NY-23 Race?
National Review ^

Posted on 10/22/2009 10:28:41 AM PDT by jsdjason

According to the writer, he has been hearing that she will endorse Doug Hoffman over the RNC's choice of Scozzafava. I sincerely hope that she does endorse Hoffman. I think it only gives her more credibility in showing that she does not give a hoot what the RNC says or does and sticks to her principals. Of course, this could be just the jolt that Hoffman needs to surge ahead of both of his liberal opponents.

Jersey Governor, Jon Corzine, has high negatives with independents. Yet he has a 50/50 chance fo winning. In a 3 way race, anything can happen.

It’s because of their “fusion system”..and I would like more states to adopt a similar model (It could result in a more right leaning GOP, as well as get Indpendents, Libertarains, and Constitutional Party people to become more engaged w/conservatives in the electoral process rather than acting as spoilers more often than not that those parties are sometimes).

The RNC is so disgusting that they pressured TX conservative Rep. Jeb Hensarling to endorse Scozzafava.

Pressure or not he did the wrong thing. No excuses.

My comment was meant more as an impeachment of the RNC than Jeb. I agree Jeb shouldn’t have caved to the RNC machine. Shows he has as much spine as the majority of the GOP reps.

She might want to think twice about going there to campaign, since this historically republican district went for obamao last year.

Gee, I’ll type real slow this time. What NATIONAL candidate do you support (we’re talking about Palin so that means NATIONAL) that has rushed in to support the only conservative in the race?

Was that slow enough for YOU TO GET THIS TIME?

My point was, You are ridiculing Palin for coming to the party late, where is your guy?

Let me guess, with your amazing skills at both humor and comprehisnive reading, I’d bet you’re a huckster fan...

I’m starting to think a third of our elected Republicans are plants. Makes sense for the power-at-all-costs types within the Democrat Party.

99% of the time when I ask a Palin basher who their candidate is, the usual reply: haven’t decided, to early, or no reply.

The Palin bashers don’t give out their candidate’s names
as they can’t be defended.

I hope she does. This is still just a rumor and speculation. If it happens, it would be a big boost.

With or without Sarah Palin, Doug Hoffman is an important candidate for the conservative grass roots. A Hoffman victory would be great for the movement. Even putting Scozzafava in a third place finish would be worthwhile. It would send the message that the Republicans need to listen to their base.

Doug Hoffman is the Conservative alternative in this race (or Hoffman by PayPal).

Markos Moulitsas, founder of The Daily Kos has endorsed Scozzafava. Dede Scozzafava has also been endorsed by NYSUT, the largest labor union in New York, and an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Scozzafava also holds these positions:

Scozzafava has also run in past elections on the Working Families Party (a progressive party associated with ACORN) line on the ballot.

This lady isn’t a RINO, she is a big “R” libeRal democRat. Mark Steyn has coined the term DIABLO for her and others like her. Democrat In All But Label Only.

There are also at least 17 unprincipled DIABLO enablers in the house who have donated funds or otherwise supported to this LibeRal democRat's DIABLO’s campaign. They include Boehner, Cantor, Sessions, Hensarling, Brown-Waite and McCotter. I don’t have a full list, but I will be looking for it. These unprincipled enablers should be targeted for elimination in the primaries next year. Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

Last year, this district went 65% for John McHugh, a relatively conservative Republican. On the same ballot McCain(/Palin) lost. The message might have been Conservative=Yes, RINO=No.

On the issues, Hoffman is much closer to McHugh than either of the other candidates. Scozzafava is the furthest from McHugh, and is a longshot on the issues.

There are problems, though. Scozzafava has been elected by part of this district many times. Hoffman has never held elective office.

Hoffman also hasn’t boned up on all the local issues. He had a rough interview with a local newspaper this morning. They were asking questions which they took from an editorial piece they published this morning (well before the interview).

But I have heard that Hoffman has the better ground game. He is lining up volunteers for a big get out the vote push on election day.

If I recall correctly, Palin made a visit to Auburn, NY this summer to give a speech at the Seward House museum, and attracted thousands of people. Auburn is just outside the NY-23 district, in NY-24.

I'd think that given her popularity at a speech honoring a New Yorker responsible for the settlement of Alaska, that Palin will be well-received in Hoffman's district, too.
