The RLC has also endorsed Jason Shepherd for State Representative in Georgia, Shane Schoeller (Incumbent) for State Representative in Missouri, and Bill Hunt for Orange County Sheriff in California. "Rob Wasinger has the right experience, vision, and values to lead Kansas into an era of economic growth and prosperity. He is an exemplary public servant we can trust," McCain was quoted saying in a news release from the Wasinger campaign. "I am humbled to be supported by Sen. The third-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives on Wednesday endorsed Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman for the 2010 midterm elections. House Republican Conference chairman Mike Pence (R-Ind.) offered his support to Hoffman, who was defeated at the hands of Democrat Bill Owens in a highly contested special election in upstate New York. "Well, let me say that the lesson here is that we all need to fall behind Doug Hoffman for next fall’s election," Pence told a conservative blog today. "I look forward to welcoming him to Congress a year from now. I think he ran a brilliant campaign."

Virginians will have an important choice to make in Tuesday’s gubernatorial election — and we believe the best choice is Republican Bob McDonnell. *break* On economic development, McDonnell wants to do more to lure businesses to Virginia. *break* McDonnell wants a $1,000 per job tax credit for companies that create at least 50 new jobs — or 25 new jobs in economically distressed areas. That’s the kind of thinking this economically distressed community needs in Richmond. It’s true that the Dan River Region’s leadership has worked hard to attract new jobs in manufacturing, technology, research and retail. But Danville has...

So Sarah Palin has started endorsing candidates, by boosting conservative Doug Hoffman for an upstate New York congressional seat in tomorrow’s elections. Maybe she should make that a regular practice. Endorsements matter, despite what the chattering heads say on cable news. And multiple Palin stamps of approval could be good for the recipients, the Republican Party, and ex-Governor Palin herself. Plus, the ads would be fantastic. Decoder can see one now: “Hi, I’m Sarah Palin, Brander of MavericksTM. I’ve taken time from my busy schedule here in Alaska because it’s important you know that [CANDIDATE NAME] is a maverick, just...

"Dede is entitled to her own opinion, as is everyone, but I obviously disagree with her decision," Burns told us today, a day after leaving the campaign. I Am Endorsing Doug Hoffman Updated 11/1 - The race has evolved into a contest between a conservative and a pro-Pelosi, tax increase, big government liberal Democrat. This is both a tribute to the power of the national conservative movement to define an issue and a commentary on the populist anger against politics-as-usual. The New York GOP has now had two troubled special elections and it is clear they should go to a primary nominating system so everyone will feel it was fair and open. The age of party leaders picking people is over. Scozzafava did the right thing in...

If the economy and transportation are the two top crises facing Virginia, then the question is: Which candidate for governor has the best chance of solving those intertwined problems? And the answer has to be: Bob McDonnell — although there are portions of his platform that we question. We say this with great respect for his opponent, state Sen. R. Creigh Deeds, whose district includes portions of our community. We know him well and admire his record of service. But for overall strategy and capability, the nod goes to Mr. McDonnell. Lots of people want credit for Dede Scozzafava dropping out today. I feel like I have had a view from the inside. Lots of people are trying to give me credit for rallying the base since last July for Hoffman, but from my vantage point, there are four that are being overshadowed by Pataki, Pawlenty, and Palin, but who genuinely and truly deserve a hell of a lot more credit than most. Even as other past and prospective Republican presidential candidates have offered their endorsements, Huckabee has conspicuously declined to officially support Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman, a decision that has left bewildered many of the social conservatives whom he assiduously courted in his 2008 bid. “It’s very disappointing,” said Tom McClusky, vice president for government affairs at the Family Research Council. “You have names out there like Sarah Palin,...

*break* Does the GOP enjoy an electoral lock on the attorney general's office? The past four winners have been Republicans in large part because their campaigns have stressed the prosecutorial aspects of the position. The victors have run as crusaders determined to smite the bad guys. This year offers a twist, as Democrat Steve Shannon emphasizes his experience as a prosecutor while Republican Ken Cuccinelli defines the attorney general as the state's counsel. The only way to support Creigh Deeds for governor of Virginia is to believe in a fairy tale - call it Three Little Governors. The voters decided to try again, but the next little governor, moderate Democratic problem solver Tim Kaine, didn't solve the problem, either.
  • Did the NRA really endorse Scozzafava for Congress (NY-23) ?

Is the National Rifle Association ashamed of its own endorsement, or are the media lying to us once again? I was stunned to read that the N.R.A. endorsed pro-gay, pro-abortion, climate alarmist, socialist Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava for Congress in the special, off-year election in New York's 23rd district. The N.R.A. is pro-gun rights, not (necessarily) conservative, but a moderate Democrat helps the N.R.A. maintain its nonpartisan status and reputation more than supporting a liberal Republican. On the other hand, the media widely reported that the N.R.A. endorsed former Vermont governor and Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean. The reality is...

The Trust's Executive Director, Scott Wheeler released the following statement. We are going all out to elect Doug Hoffman, the Conservative Party Candidate and will be launching a television advertising campaign this week." Wheeler...

Marco Rubio's campaign for U.S. Senate, already picking up speed with fundraising, now has another endorsement to tout. The Buzz is U.S. Sen. James Inhofe, R-Olahoma, will endorse the former Republican House speaker today. Rubio was previously endorsed by South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint.

While his party leaders have lined up behind Gov. Charlie Crist in Florida’s Republican Senate primary next year, Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) announced Monday that he was endorsing former state Speaker Marco Rubio. “I enthusiastically support Marco Rubio in his campaign for U.S. Senate,” Inhofe said in a statement released Monday afternoon. “Marco is exactly the type of conservative leader Americans need in Washington today fighting for the principles of limited government, individual liberty and personal responsibility.” In his endorsement, Inhofe also appeared to take an indirect shot at the more moderate Crist for backing President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus...

Dallas Morning News ^ | 2:04 PM Mon, Oct 19, 2009 | Dick Armey to endorse 3rd party candidate over Republican in NY House race
The special election to fill New York's vacant 23rd congressional seat is perhaps the earliest test of the GOP's chances to reclaim the House in 2010. Yet the GOP candidate, Dede Scozzafava, has struggled to line up Republican support, and has taken a pummeling from conservative groups that assert she's liberal. The Club for Growth and Eagle Forum, among others, support her opponent, Doug Hoffman, who's running on the Conservative Party ticket. Add North Texas' Dick Armey to the list of conservative stars backing Hoffman. The former House Majority Leader has confirmed to the Hoffman campaign that he'll spend Thursday...

Republican gubernatorial candidate Robert F. McDonnell has a detailed plan for tackling transportation issues that includes everything from tolls to privatizing ABC stores in order to gain revenue specifically for transportation. While everything in his transportation plan may not work, we are impressed at the effort he put forth in coming up with solutions, something his opponent seemed wary of doing. ... Of course, being a Republican, he is also eager to trim waste from the state’s budget and maintain low taxes, both things we appreciate. We are afraid that taxes would be a simple answer to many problems from...

A LEGACY of sound policies, coupled with the proximity of the federal government, has partially protected Virginia from the harsh retrenchments that the recession has forced on many states. Yet the commonwealth faces a daunting crisis in the form of a drastic shortfall in transportation funding, measured in the tens of billions of dollars, that threatens future prosperity. If the current campaign for governor has clarified anything, it is that state Sen. R. Creigh Deeds, the Democratic nominee, has the good sense and political courage to maintain the forward-looking policies of the past while addressing the looming challenge of fixing...
