Going Rogue or Going Rouge? Liberals to put out parody book bashing Sarah Palin; out on same day.

When Sarah Palin's big-bucks memoir "Going Rogue: An American Life by Sarah Palin" comes out Nov. 17, there'll be another book about her hitting the stores the same day: "Going Rouge: Sarah Palin, an American Nightmare."

The "Rouge" book, with a similar name and cover, will be put out by a new company, OR Books, says Publisher's Marketplace, which says it will be composed of "essays assembled by Nation editors Richard Kim and Betsy Reed." Marketplace adds that "it promises 'progressive perspectives on Sarah Palin's political career' by writers including Naomi Klein, Jane Mayer, Katha Pollitt, Jim Hightower, Christopher Hayes, Gloria Steinem, Joe Conason, and Tom Frank."

Shouldn't there be a copyright trademark problem in this somewhere? Publishers Marketplace wondered, too:

... we asked Ned Himmelrich, head of the intellectual property department at law firm Gordon Feinblatt, for an assessment of whether the cheeky new cover crosses legal lines. "Although the first instinct is to believe that the 'Nightmare' book has to be infringing" the publishers "may have found a seam in Palin's protection."

Ha - and I don’t see the “New York Times Bestseller” sticker on Estrich’s book. How many did she sell, anyway?
It’s ranked 160,000+ at Barnes & Noble.

From what I’ve read this lib book won’t be at stores, but sold over the net by this new publisher. My gut instinct tells me they’d be lucky to sell a couple of hundred. Why would even hardcore Palin haters waste their money, when they can get all their Palin hate on MSNBC, and the net for free.

you can laugh, but I think this is a deliberate strategy to confuse book shoppers in a desperate bid to keep Sarah off the top of the Best Sellers List

“Not surprisingly the only two other people who come close to doing what Palin has done to the conservative base are also women: Liz Cheney and Michele Bachmann.”

I know!! These conservative women are fearless! (It makes me proud. :))

I hope you are right--I was just thinking that the local bookstore would position the Nation parody volume so that people would grab the wrong volume and only discover their mistake when they got home.

It’s a ploy to sell a book bashing Palin, by trying to steal sales of the Palin book.

Doncha feel bad for the lefties?

Our women are much more intelligent, much more accomplished, and (sexist alert, sexist alert) much more attractive than our “progressives”.

And, a sure sign that they’re worried is the amount of time they spend debunking folks like Sarah.

I’ve come to believe that those who are the most hateful when it comes to Sarah Palin are those who have had, or have pushed women into having abortions.

Guilt is a mighty force. It pushes cheaters to act hatefully and blame the innocent party they’ve cheated on, for their own bad behavior. Guilt pushes long time friends apart. One borrows money, doesn’t pay it back and then turns hatefully against his friend who gave him the loan. Why? Guilt!

Those who hate Sarah Palin the most do so because of their own guilt. In her they find a reminder of their own failings and they strike out hatefully. Because of their own guilt!

I believe the haters live with the guilt of killing an innocent child. And the hatred they shower on Sara Palin is really the hatred they feel for themselves for doing what they knew in their heart was the worst wrong a human could possibly do to another human.

So when I see this book that’s coming out to try to mess with Sarah Palin, the only thing I can think of being the true reason behind it ...... Guilt!

The left does have women who are ugly like Helen Thomas and Susan Estrich and Barbara Boxer. And No I don’t feel bad for them.

Palin has sparked fear them. Since the day she was announced. Even before one got a chance to hear Palin, they were smearing her. They know she has a national appeal and is the best conservative/republican to defeat him. I can’t think of anyone else who ran in 2008 for the nomination who had her charisma and intelligence and appeal and was strong in their convictions.

About the only good thing we got out of McCain was Palin.

No. Don’t you recall that continued mocking of Michael Dukakis in 1989 and the joke books and...? It was like that wacky Mondale 1985 tv series and that witty weekly satire of Bob Dole in 1999. < /sarc>

Ah, the usual suspects, including the major loser Texan, failed politician, failed radio host, Jim Hightower.

Couldn't get that great moderate, Bill Moyers, to contribute ?

Fortunately, Conservatives can spell. If I were a lib I’d worry about my fellow travelers buying Sarah’s book by mistake.

Sarah Palin will never hold another elected office. She made a terrible mistake by quitting as Governor. She had a platform and “real responsibilities”, now she has book tours.
