Obama redefines White House relationship with top field commander
L..A. Times ^ | 10/28/09 | Julian E. Barnes

President Obama does not have the one-on-one relationship with Gen. McChrystal that President Bush did with Gen. Petraeus, but rather a more traditional one along the chain of command.

Reporting from Washington - President Obama and his predecessor differ significantly in their approach to America's wars. They differ at least as much in their relationship with their top battlefield commander.

During the Bush administration, Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, the then-ground commander in Iraq, assumed the role of a trusted advisor who frequently visited the White House or talked to the president by phone.

The Kenyan obviously doesn’t want the general to see what a dopey communist he is in person.

I would consider ANY general that (in a private moment) would not admit that he/she considers Obama to be the intellectual equivalent of slime mold to be incompetent and not worthy of command.

The true indication of professionalism is that they try to obey this idiot.

It is this way because the dumb bastard (Zero) doesn't have a clue, and won't listen to anyone who does.

Quite the opposite (and when did Kerry get his star?)

Doesn’t matter what his “relationship” is, he promised to listen to his generals.

What has happened to troop deaths since this brilliant Obama strategy? We don’t really hear about it in the news anymore.

Yes, Obama doesn’t want anyone to take the spotlight away from him by having another ‘celebrity’ general. Too bad he doesn’t care about the troops. Maybe he should fly on another date with Michelle, play more golf, or have another party at the Whitehouse. I’d hate for a little thing like the lives of our troops to get in the way.

If their weren’t a buffer, McCrystal would find out what a dumbass the Zero is.

‘Where do you put the bullet’s?’ the Zero asks about an new Bullpup Assault rifle.

McCrystal replies ‘In the Butt’.

McCrystal returns two hours later and the Zero is on the floor of the oval office bleeding.

If this story can be detached from the reality of Obama as CinC, there is nothing inherently bad about the type of relationship described in the article. Schwartzkopf dealt with POTUS through Powell and Cheney. His advice was presented and the results are history. Bush 43 and Petraeus had a relationship that was more the exception than the rule.

Obama probably wouldn’t have any idea which way to point the weapon, nonetheless fire it.

There is probably nothing that exposes Obamaos incompetence and unfitness to lead as the company of his generals.

My son, Marine boy, would like to know what Petraeus’ advice would be.....he has been silent. The Military trusts him and his comments would help at this time of indecision in the WH.

""No one wants another Petraeus," said the Defense official. "No one wants another celebrity general."

.......But the lefties were fine with celebrating Shinseki, Shakashvili, "Ashley Wilkes" and Anthony Zinni, (at least until Zinni walked off the Plantation).

Bush was comfortable with the military. The ‘bama depises it and is probably somewhat intimidated, which he should be given the military’s opinion of him.

Fifty-two percent of the voters in 2008 gave no thought to our military when voting for Obama. Only a dead person would have failed to see Obama was/is unfit to be CiC.

Shame, shame on you Obama voters!
