Newt Gingrich - "King of the RINOs"
Examiner ^ | 10/27/09 | Chet Nichols

Posted on 10/28/2009 12:51:45 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Newt Gingrich can officially be put on the RINO list. Actually, he should be given the crown! In the first true test of the conservative movement, the former Speaker was one of the first to show his true colors by going AGAINST the grassroots movement.

Recently, Gingrich formally indorsed Dede Scozzafava, a very liberal Republican candidate in the New York special election. Politico reports that Gingrich told tea party organizer Lisa Miller that “conservatives are inadvertently hindering the cause by backing Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman over Dede Scozzafava.”

Scozzafava was not nominated by the public in a primary, she was selected by County Republican Chairmen. She is pro-abortion and pro gay marriage. She supported the stimulus and supports card check. She is endorsed by the far left liberal blog Daily Kos, and ACORN.

Despite Mrs. Scozzafava’s liberal views and supporters, Mr. Gingrich continues to defend his support of her. Apparently, Mr. Gingrich’s loyalty lies with party and not principle, and is more concerned about strategy than representation:

I just think it is a mistake for the conservative movement to think splitting in the special election is a smart idea,” Gingrich said. “If we give that seat to the Democrats, shame on us…she is the nominee of the local party. My bias is to be for the nominee of the local party, and I don’t second guess the local party.

So if the “local [republican] party” supported socialist and/or Marxist principles, you can count on Newt to support them as well.

Does that sound a conservative leader to you? His statement is both disturbing and telling. Conservatives are not supporting Hoffman because we “think splitting in the special election is a smart, idea”, as Mr. Gingrich claims. The fact that Mr. Gingrich believes that sentiment shows that he is out of touch and does not have a clue what conservatives want or stand for.

To set the record straight, conservatives are voting on the “candidate” and the “morals and values” of what the candidate “stands for”, not a strategic “idea”. It is not a move based on calculation, it is a move based on principle.

Doug Hoffman, a businessman from New York, is a veteran, Christian and conservative whose recent endorsements and support include that of Sarah Palin, Dick Armey, Fred Thompson and recently Tim Pawlenty. He is running on conservative values, not party affiliation. As Sarah Palin so eloquently put it, “Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.” Instead, according to Doug’s website, he is going against it: The battle I wage is not a lonely one. Like-minded citizens in the district, the state and the nation have joined me in this fight.

It is a battle that has been joined by current and former elected Republican officials, conservative activists and members of the ever-growing Tea Party and 9/12 movements. And if the GOP picks liberal candidates for the midterm congressional elections next year, they may find that there are a lot more people out there like me who won’t go along. We are not going to win by becoming more like the Democrats. We’re going to win by standing up for our beliefs.

It’s principle over party.

It’s a fight for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. It’s a fight for fiscal responsibility and the return of common sense to those who govern us. This is a fight for our children’s future. It’s a fight for America.

So while the republican RINO elite continue to endorse political candidates based on the same failed principles that continue to plague the Republican Party, the conservative movement will continue to grow one patriot, one city, one state at a time.

So let the record be clear, you are either with us, or with the liberals.

And you, Mr. Gingrich, stepped over that line in the sand, made a deal with the devil, and cast your support with the liberals. For that, you closed the door on 2012. You had the opportunity to take the bull by the horns and lead conservatives in the first true battle, but chose to betray our principles to support the RINO cause.

But alas, you will not walk away empty handed, as you have earned the dubious title “King of the RINOs”.

Newt Gingrich like so many others who acclimate to the culture and Washingtonian way of doing things, has made so many ‘deals’ and brokered so many ‘agreements’, that he doesn’t know WHAT the people ordered him to do when they sent him there.

Newt is what is known as ... "Part of the Problem".

Reminds me of an old Far Side cartoon about a "POTP Convention". :)

I used Newt’s own “contact me” form on his website to give him a piece of my mind. You can too . . .

Newt has gotten too big for his britches....still hangin’ on his ‘94 star for which I am greatful but enough already.
He thinks just because he has about 450 thousand PHD’s that he knows everything and we just stop on his every word. Nope, ain’t gonna happen.

Oh your screen name is unfortunate now, perhaps you can add a signature line perhaps (<—That’s “Newt” from Aliens since the Hoffman race!)

Newt’s gone over to the Dark side. That’s too bad, but we can survive without him as long as everybody is aware he has Benedict Arnold’ us.

I’d write him a letter imploring him to reconsider and mend his ways...but...
he won’t, and
the party’s better off with Newt in the wilderness, where this boneheaded endorsement of his has placed him.

Ditto, but not worried. (I'm more worried McCain will try again!)

Thanks, I just sent him this message: Newt, forget 2012. The NY23 death knell has rung for your political career. Also I’ve been buying your books but no more. I’m sorry to see you lose all your integrity and your mind at the same time.

Newt and his ilk blew the “94” opportunity they had by not taking a stand and then moving forward.

Education comes in many ways one is: e.g. burn me once your fault, burn me twice my fault!

A friend stated experience is not getting the result you wanted, Newt was not and is not the result I wanted.

“It’s principle over party.”

Not necessarily. It’s principle over this one particular candidate. But most of us think it’s best for the party to have this candidate lose.
