Posted on 10/28/2009 12:51:45 PM PDT by nickcarraway
Newt Gingrich can officially be put on the RINO list. Actually, he should be given the crown! In the first true test of the conservative movement, the former Speaker was one of the first to show his true colors by going AGAINST the grassroots movement.
Recently, Gingrich formally indorsed Dede Scozzafava, a very liberal Republican candidate in the New York special election. Politico reports that Gingrich told tea party organizer Lisa Miller that conservatives are inadvertently hindering the cause by backing Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman over Dede Scozzafava.
Scozzafava was not nominated by the public in a primary, she was selected by County Republican Chairmen. She is pro-abortion and pro gay marriage. She supported the stimulus and supports card check. She is endorsed by the far left liberal blog Daily Kos, and ACORN.
Despite Mrs. Scozzafavas liberal views and supporters, Mr. Gingrich continues to defend his support of her. Apparently, Mr. Gingrichs loyalty lies with party and not principle, and is more concerned about strategy than representation:
I just think it is a mistake for the conservative movement to think splitting in the special election is a smart idea, Gingrich said. If we give that seat to the Democrats, shame on us she is the nominee of the local party. My bias is to be for the nominee of the local party, and I dont second guess the local party.
So if the local [republican] party supported socialist and/or Marxist principles, you can count on Newt to support them as well.
Does that sound a conservative leader to you? His statement is both disturbing and telling. Conservatives are not supporting Hoffman because we think splitting in the special election is a smart, idea, as Mr. Gingrich claims. The fact that Mr. Gingrich believes that sentiment shows that he is out of touch and does not have a clue what conservatives want or stand for.
To set the record straight, conservatives are voting on the candidate and the morals and values of what the candidate stands for, not a strategic idea. It is not a move based on calculation, it is a move based on principle.
Doug Hoffman, a businessman from New York, is a veteran, Christian and conservative whose recent endorsements and support include that of Sarah Palin, Dick Armey, Fred Thompson and recently Tim Pawlenty. He is running on conservative values, not party affiliation. As Sarah Palin so eloquently put it, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine. Instead, according to Dougs website, he is going against it: The battle I wage is not a lonely one. Like-minded citizens in the district, the state and the nation have joined me in this fight.
It is a battle that has been joined by current and former elected Republican officials, conservative activists and members of the ever-growing Tea Party and 9/12 movements. And if the GOP picks liberal candidates for the midterm congressional elections next year, they may find that there are a lot more people out there like me who wont go along. We are not going to win by becoming more like the Democrats. Were going to win by standing up for our beliefs.
Its principle over party.
Its a fight for the heart and soul of the Republican Party. Its a fight for fiscal responsibility and the return of common sense to those who govern us. This is a fight for our childrens future. Its a fight for America.
So while the republican RINO elite continue to endorse political candidates based on the same failed principles that continue to plague the Republican Party, the conservative movement will continue to grow one patriot, one city, one state at a time.
So let the record be clear, you are either with us, or with the liberals.
And you, Mr. Gingrich, stepped over that line in the sand, made a deal with the devil, and cast your support with the liberals. For that, you closed the door on 2012. You had the opportunity to take the bull by the horns and lead conservatives in the first true battle, but chose to betray our principles to support the RINO cause.
But alas, you will not walk away empty handed, as you have earned the dubious title King of the RINOs.
Newt Gingrich like so many others who acclimate to the culture and Washingtonian way of doing things, has made so many ‘deals’ and brokered so many ‘agreements’, that he doesn’t know WHAT the people ordered him to do when they sent him there.
Minion of the NWO
It’s times like these that I wish I could change my screen name.
Reminds me of an old Far Side cartoon about a "POTP Convention". :)
I used Newt’s own “contact me” form on his website to give him a piece of my mind. You can too . . .
Newt has gotten too big for his britches....still hangin’ on his ‘94 star for which I am greatful but enough already.
He thinks just because he has about 450 thousand PHD’s that he knows everything and we just stop on his every word. Nope, ain’t gonna happen.
Newt is so INSIDE the Beltway I think he’s forgotten what its all about. I would NOT vote for the guy! Mason Dixon
Oh your screen name is unfortunate now, perhaps you can add a signature line perhaps (<—That’s “Newt” from Aliens since the Hoffman race!)
Newt’s gone over to the Dark side. That’s too bad, but we can survive without him as long as everybody is aware he has Benedict Arnold’ us.
I’d write him a letter imploring him to reconsider and mend his ways...but...
he won’t, and
the party’s better off with Newt in the wilderness, where this boneheaded endorsement of his has placed him.
Ditto, but not worried. (I'm more worried McCain will try again!)
Newt’s getting spanked on his blog. :)
Thanks, I just sent him this message: Newt, forget 2012. The NY23 death knell has rung for your political career. Also I’ve been buying your books but no more. I’m sorry to see you lose all your integrity and your mind at the same time.
Newt and his ilk blew the “94” opportunity they had by not taking a stand and then moving forward.
Education comes in many ways one is: e.g. burn me once your fault, burn me twice my fault!
A friend stated experience is not getting the result you wanted, Newt was not and is not the result I wanted.
“Its principle over party.”
Not necessarily. It’s principle over this one particular candidate. But most of us think it’s best for the party to have this candidate lose.
What’s this about 2012? Newt 2012 ? For what, mayor of NYC?
“Its times like these that I wish I could change my screen name.”
To me it doesn't matter how approved the process is, if it comes up with a candidate that is not conservative then both the process and the candidate need changing.
Newt, the election wouldn't be split if the GOP backed conservative candidates.
Personally, I think it's a mistake to vote for any Republican or Democrat. This proves my point. Except for the letter following their name, there is no difference.
Witness the statement of another so-called 'rock-solid' conservative Republican, Tom DeLay when he said that there was nothing left to cut from the federal budget.
Newt could have simply begged off an endorsement based on the candidate's outrageous support for anti-conservative issues, but instead, he 'fell in line' and endorsed a woman he should have ignored, at best. Meanwhile, Sarah Palin and other savvy politicians with conservative principles endorsed Hoffman, the conservative. Newt is left hanging with his stupid endorsement around his neck.
If the Democrat wins the race, Newt will claim that it was because the conservative candidate split the Republican vote. If the 'Republican' candidate wins, Newt will say that she won because the conservative 'split' the Republican vote. However, if the conservative candidate wins (as we all hope), Newt will just look foolish and will say nothing, hoping conservatives forget his endorsement of a fake 'Republican'. They won't.
It won't matter much because Newt Gingrich has pretty much thrown away his legitimacy with conservatives. I expect to see him popping up on the liberal news shows any day now - as their token 'conservative'. A guy who isn't a really a conservative but 'plays one on TV'. Good-bye, Newt. We hardly knew you.
Mom always told me ... if you can’t say something nice - don’t say anything.
Newt - STFU, dude.
On the NY23 Race, We Have A Practical Choice To Make with Scozzfava & Hoffman: Moderates help make majorities and the lessons of 1994
A few of the choicer comments ON HIS OWN BLOG, all of which are representative:
I will not vote for another RINO, ever again.
I don't have to kowtow to the Republican Party, they have to kowtow to We, The People, or they will stay in the minority for another 40 years.
Do you get it, Newt?
Newt only cares for Newt, not the American people. Newt, Obama and McCain are all alike in what can the people do for me. Wake up America you are VOTING us into HELL with the leraders you are picking. Pray for a revolution if you want an HONEST GOVERNMENT. Otherwise you will get screwed and screwed by liars, theives and PURE American Trash that have a communist hold on you. It's your life. Are you happy with what is happening to America?
I have never been very political, but I will be sending donations directly to fiscally conservative candidates from now on. It's time to stop the increasing our deficit. I'm sorry I was asleep at the wheel while the country has gotten this far in it's self destruction. Some of us have been busy working or trying to raise our children properly. How anyone can support a candidate that is ACORN friendly and for union card check is beyond me. I hope Doug wins, but if he doesn't, I will continue to support all of the up and coming "Dougs".
If you weren't a total sellout, I would suggest that you could redeem yourself by asking your sorry leftist candidate, "DeDe", to go quietly and endorse Hoffman. But I've known for years that you are a RINO and true Republicans are sick of you and the policies you promote. No matter; we will make sure Hoffman wins anyway. You are worse than irrelevant.
Do us a favor, Newt, and go away!
I have always been an ardent supporter and was dissapointed that you did not run in 08. However I cannot believe you would endorse a 'card check" candidate. I always thought you stood on principles but now I question just what those principles are. You have lost a faithful supporter!
Once again a politician is telling us as Americans to not look at the issues and not look at the character and beliefs of another politician. This is why we are where we are now!
Limbaugh Rips Gingrich For Endorsing Scozzafava ["Republican Party just as dangerous as Democrats"]
AIP Projects and Special Committees -> "Republican" Watch
HOWARD DEAN AND NEWT ARE TRAVELLING TODAY TO PITCH NATIONALIZED HEALTH CARE IN CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI!
NEWT IS ARLEN SPECTER.
It's a commandment Newt, and you know it. Thou shalt not kill, you can't ammend the commandments. No waivering on abortion, just a few babies DO MATTER. Please reconsider and choose the Pro-Life Candidate. You won't regret it.
OUTRAGEOUS--DISAPPOINTED--PARTY OVER PRINCIPAL AND YOU LOSE.
You're dead wrong Mr. Gingrich. Why would you want to sacrifice principle for party?
Newt: Are you a resident of the 23rd district? My understanding is that you're a resident of McClean, VA. Practice what you preach.
Newt - the Republican party is always sending me mail requesting me to sen donations to influence districts that are not my own. Now you are saying that it's not ok to try and influence others ... the locals know better than me?! I guess that's only true except when you ask me for campaign donations.
As a Republican legislator in NJ, I've seen the disaster which toeing the party line can make, when we are asked to support policies the GOP leadership endorses, allegedly to win the support of constituents. Result: NJ finds itself in a tax hell, buried under a mountain of debt, in thrall to the public employee unions, with no realistic prospect of recovery.
Liberal policies -- supporting Obama's $800 billion deficit busting stimulus fraud comes to mind -- are wrong, whether pursued by Republicans or Democrats. At the end of the day, if we find ourselves with a liberal "Republican" or a liberal Democrat, what's the difference? The policy still stinks.
If the people want socialism, let them get it from the Democrats.
Newt makes this life-long Republican want to PUKE!
I was pulling for you even after Bill Clinton are your lunch in '96. If you keep letting RINO butt monkeys like Dole, McCain and Scozzaferra run our party, the democrates will continue to pound us into the mud until we have no America to defend.
If you can't make a coherent statement and make a stand for Republican Conservatism, please, please, please, quit taking our money so that someone with a vision will have a chance to succeed.
You talk conservative but you walk like a slimebag politician.
olmpia snowe, arlen spector, john mccain,
You made a bad choice. We are out of patience with losing with moderates. Keep your book,
get your web page off my computer. DeMint,
Thompson, Palin, and me. You are off team,
clean out your locker.
Dede just stuck a fork in you--turn over--You're done!!!!
Newt, you suck. Do you really think that anything not Democrat is conservative? Stop calling my home begging for money. I've been arguing with my father for years trying to convince him you are not a true conservative. Now he finally agrees. BTW, you whined about "outsiders" getting involved in NY 23 special elecyion. Follow your own advice, and get out of that race. You're as much an outsider as any of us.
Wow, Newt....no friends? And on your own website. Let me ask you a question: if "real change requires real change", where's the real change between Dede Scozzafava and Nancy Pelosi/Louise Slaughter??? That is a distinction without a difference. You seem bent on winning a GOP majority, why? So that it can splinter apart like the Democrats' majority in congress now??
Newt, you've committed political hari kari with this one endorsement. Real bright!
P.S. I thought you just became a Roman Catholic - what position does Scozzafava hold that is in any way aligned to the Church?
He has chosen power over principle.
Every now and then I am reminded of why I never really liked the guy. Dumb turd.
Even the best get poisoned inside the Beltway. He just can’t help wanting to dwell among the Mandarins.
It’s a beautiful thing.
What really gets me is how CLUELESS Newt and Co. are. After the Town Halls and the tremendous turnout in DC you’d think they’d notice that something’s afoot.
I guess they’re sticking to their story that conservatism is dead and that Americans do desire bigger government and more intrusion into their lives.
I can see that happening too.
Looks that way.
“Short-sighted unto blindness” strikes me as the right descriptive.
He just wants to be loved inside the beltway. Probably got tired of being shunned by his “friends.”
I thought that this was interesting - From Newts website.

Jack Abramoff, present jailbird, was convicted of all sorts of crooked schemes. One of his favorites was to funnel money through various organizations into the hands of other people.
It appears Dede Scozzafava is funneling RNC, NRCC, and [NEWT’S] donor dollars through her campaign account to her family.
Dede Scozzafava is or was until recently the Chief Operating Officer of her brothers company.
Her companys key subsidiaries have accumulated hundreds of thousands of dollars in state and federal tax liens. As of July 13, 2009 or less than a week ago three of Dedes businesses have $192,000 in outstanding liens.
Dedes brother is Thomas W. Scozzafava and he is married to Pearl Han Ashcraft.
Dede Scozzafavas campaign has paid $3750.00 in disclosed expenses to Pearl Han Productions, LLC for Strategic Consulting, the most bland of descriptions.
Heres where it gets interesting.
Given the campaigns propensity to file false police reports against reporters, I have no doubt this was intentionally designed to obfuscate what is going on.
On Scozzafavas disclosures, Pearl Han Productions, LLC is located at 2001 S.E. Sailfish Pt. Blvd. #112, Stuard, NY 34996. There is just one problem. No such place exists.
What does exist, however, is 2001 S.E. Sailfish Pt. Blvd. #112, Stuart, FL 34996, a beautiful ocean front condo.
At that address, youll find Pearl Han Productions, LLC, incorporated in the State of Florida. (PDF). The person in charge is Pearl Ashcraft, Dedes sister-in-law.
And if you think all that is too much of a coincidence, or maybe you think the campaign disclosure had just an innocent typo as to the address, consider this fact: Pearl Han Productions, LLC was not incorporated in the State of Florida until after the New York Republican Party made Dede Scozzafava its nominee.
Scozzafava was chosen on August 19, 2009, and eight days later on August 27, 2009, Pearl Han Productions, LLC was filed with the Secretary of State and reviewed a day later by that office.
Scozzafava doesnt look to be just an ACORN candidate, but also more and more looks like an Abramoff Republican
>> Newt Gingrich like so many others who acclimate to the culture and Washingtonian way of doing things,...
>> Newt is so INSIDE the Beltway I think hes forgotten what its all about.
It’s about controlling other people for those in D.C. The others who once held themselves to the Constitution eventually become squatters in the Houses of Liberty.
Yes, we’re governed by control freaks and squatters.
What a scumball. Hope she ends up in jail soon.
2 years tops.
So Right Gingrich is part of the New World Order. If he runs for president in 2012, forget my vote for this scum. no different than the O-idiot
