Iran: Can Obama play hardball?
WP ^ | October 29, 2009 | Robert Kagan

Watching the Obama administration launch its "new era of engagement" over the past 10 months, most seasoned observers have pondered two questions: First, if engagement fails, will the Obama team ever acknowledge that it has failed? And what then?

The first question is about to be answered. The main object of the "new era of engagement," Iran, has settled back into its old game-playing. The joint proposal agreed to by the United States, France and Russia, to have Iran ship 70 percent of its low-enriched uranium to Russia this year, was a compromise, as administration officials acknowledge. It might theoretically have delayed Iran's bomb program by a year or so -- assuming we know everything about that program -- and thus bought some time to get a better and more definitive agreement with Tehran. But it would not have stopped Iran from continuing to enrich uranium, which has been the goal of the United States and Europe for the better part of a decade. The deal, blessed and promoted by International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei, not exactly a hawk, was really more a test of Iran's intentions than a decisive breakthrough.

So now the test results are in: Iran's intentions, it seems, are not good. Tehran apparently will not accept the deal but will propose an alternate plan, agreeing to ship smaller amounts of low-enriched uranium to Russia gradually over a year. Even if Iran carried out this plan as promised -- every month would be an adventure to see how much, if anything, Iran shipped -- the slow movement of small amounts of low-enriched uranium does not accomplish the original purpose, since Iran can quickly replace these amounts with new low-enriched uranium produced by its centrifuges. Iran's nuclear clock, which the Obama administration hoped to stop or

And that is by some crazies nut Muslims. Imagine him going up against Putin? ROFL!!! We’ll be lucky if Putin doesn’t make him do the press conference in a dress.

Iran: Can Obama play hardball?

No---
Obama and Democrats are submissive and faggy when it comes to our enemies abroad
They get aggressive only against Americans not the Iranians or Russians or Chinese
The testosterone only comes out when fighting Fox News, when fighting Republicans and when passing socialist health care bills

The writer assumes that Hussein is on America’s side in the contest, an unwarranted assumption.

Obama can play hardball with those who make our country great, but not with our enemies.

re: an unwarranted assumption

Did you ever think you would have to write a statement like that, questioning the allegiance of the President of the United States of America? I learned early in life that talk and behavior are totally unrelated. Sometimes they back each other, but often what is said and what is done are quite different. My mom was constantly saying actions speak louder than words. Nothing, absolutely nothing, this man has done or advocated since the day he took office serves the long term interest of the nation he took an oath to serve.

Talk is cheap. Sadly, it's the coin of the realm for liberals. When I offered up some silly explanation for something my dad would say “Well Skippy, that and ten-cents will buy you a cup of coffee.” The point being that coffee cost a dime in those days, so my silly talk was really worthless.

He’s playing hard ball with our enemies too. But he’s having the pitcher walk every batter. Might as well be softball, or kick ball.

Obama is clearly playing for the other team. He is the narcissistic frontman for a cabal whose only goal is to humiliate and weaken the United States. The only question that honest, patriotic Americans need to ponder is: What do we do about it?

"Iran: Can Obama play hardball?"

Only with Fox News, and then only when his surrogates are in the trenches. He is a total wuss everywhere outside the borders of the US.

re: What do we do about it?

That's a toughie isn't it? We don't have a lot of choices. Those who set up our country, purchasing the right and opportunity to do so with their blood, did their best to give us a way to handle threats to what they delivered. I don't think any of them even dreamed we would reach the point at which we find ourselves today.
