The Congressional Budget Office is out with its analysis of the House Democrats' health care bill...in reality, the CBO says that the gross cost of the bill will be $1.055 trillion.....the CBO says the bill's gross spending will be $60 billion in the first four years, and $995 billion in the next six years (or 94 percent of the total).

Snicker. Wasn’t Nancy crowing at her press party (Invitees only) that she’d brought it in under a trilion? Man is she gonna kick some CBO butt! LOL

We already pay billions in care to treat all these people.

Now we have to pay twice for the same thing. This entire issue is simply a power and money grab by government.

From the article:

The CBO estimate doesn’t include the more than $200 billion it will cost to prevent scheduled cuts to doctors’ payments under Medicare, which Democrats intend to pass through separate legislation.

The bill would also add 15 million people to the Medicaid rolls, costing states an additional $34 billion over 10 years.

these estimates assume that proposed budget cuts will actually get enacted by future members of Congress.

Budget cuts by Democrats? Don't hold your breath! For most people, "assume" means it will "make an ass out of you and me". But for Democrats, they don't care because they know the state-run media will never hold them accountable.

I believe this bill (HR 3962) is a slap in the face at the “Tea Party” movement that rose up in reaction to HR 3200. I’ve read less than half of the bill and it’s clear that it is even more brazen and over reaching than its predecessor. It will completely nationalize the operation of Insurers and Medical Providers.

The cost scoring is completely unreliable. Consider two fundamental provisions in HR 3962:

“No preexisting condition exclusion period shall be imposed on coverage”

“there may not be annual or lifetime limits” (on benefits)

Given those two simple provisions, any current cost history that is based on an industry that HAS LIMITS is worthless.

It’s like trying to guess how much your girlfriend will spend if she has a credit card with “no limit”.

Imagine what normal people (read: capitalists) could do with that amount of money. I bet I could establish a colony on the moon that mines Helium-3 and transports it to earth for nuclear fusion reactor fuel, supplying the country with near-limitless energy. Or we could drive doctors out of business and reduce the quality of our health care. Your choice!

That's scary. What's even more scary is that the CBO has a tendency to vastly underestimate the cost of government programs. They underestimated the cost of Medicade by a factor of 9.

According to the IRS there are just under 100 million people who have a taxpayer liability (i.e., actual taxpayers), the 1 billion dollar price tag works out to about 10 thousand dollars per taxpayer.

In the cost of this program, they have not calculated the overhead costs.

1. How many offices will need to be opened, rented, furnished, staffed, etc.
2. Where will we get the people to staff this enterprise. It will kill the daytime ratings of The Springer Show when their viewers and guests are going to work for the government.
3. Day one, we will start a huge retirement, workman’s comp., sick days, holidays, harassment/EEOC, lawyers.

Please feel free to start adding the “hidden” costs of hiring America’s dumbest to administer this fiasco.

One analyst on Fox said that he read through the original bill and it creates 63 new goverment agencies. Some of the costs were also hidden in the stimulus bill.

Another trillion? It’s amazing how casually the political class uses that term now.

If you hike taxes high enough, you can get the CBO to say it reduces deficits on paper, but that's a lot different from bringing down the actual costs of health care to our nation.
