White House Gears Up for Disappointing Election Day
ABC News ^ | October 31, 2009 | Jake Tapper

With Democrats poised to lose the governor's race in Virginia, and to possibly lose the governor's race in New Jersey and a special election for a House seat in New York, the White House has started insisting any pending losses will not have any significance.

"Whatever the results are I don't think they portend a lot in dealing with the future," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters on Friday, pointing to the fact that Democrats won the Virginia and New Jersey governors' races in 2001 despite a very popular President Bush, with Republicans picking up seats in Congress in 2002.

"I think we continue to take the long view on what's going on in Washington and throughout the country," Gibbs said.

President Obama will appear at campaign rallies in New Jersey Sunday to help the struggling and unpopular incumbent governor, Jon Corzine, who polls show is in a statistical dead heat with the Republican nominee, former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie.

On Monday, Vice President Joe Biden will appear at a campaign rally in Watertown, NY, to help the Democratic candidate in the special election for that New York House seat, Bill Owens, who is in a tight race with Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman.

Good, then you’ll be prepared for the future shellackings, Bobby.

If the democrats lose, it's a one day blurp. If they win one election, it's breaking news till Wednesdays’ late night. If they win two, it's a major event till Thanksgiving and if it's a trifecta, well it's a proclamation that the obamma administration has made its’ mark and the rest of the country will follow the sheep herder.

It is getting laughable to hear the spin.

First, the meltdown of the stimulous opposition was ignored. Then, the teaparty protests were marginalized by derogatory jokes and minimal coverage. Next, the fourth of July protest was disbaraged and ignored. The town halls came next, and again, ignored while sending out goons to intimidate, so we went to Washington to the tune of 2 million. Nobody listened. Now we will get to hear the spin about the rino hunts being played out in the bluest states, whether old blues or newly minted blues.

The day I await to see bagdad gibbs speaking on is Nov 5 2010............

"the White House has started insisting any pending losses will not have any significance"

Every Democrat incumbant should have these 3 election losses (when they occur) rubbed in their noses so that they are very mindful of them when the Health Care bill comes up for a vote.

Translation: “We are excited about the long-term effects of all the legislation and change that we are enacting now, that you will never be able to get rid of later.”

This reminds me when Terry McAuliffe made comments after a devastating mid-term election that it was a “good night”.

100% spin 0% truth.

Actually, you could take this statement as an admission that all three races are going to go GOP based on “Eyes Only” Democrat secret polling.

“Whatever the results are I don’t think they portend a lot in dealing with the future,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters on Friday ....

.... which explains why, in his most recent column, Dennis Miller referred to Gibbs as “Sargent Shultz.”

I still remember the media lying about the Clinton deposition, saying he got all red-faced and looked guilty as sin.

Then when the tape came out, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the press told us. And Clinton ended up coming out of it looking better than he should have.

So I'm skeptical about anything coming out of the White House.

I won't be satisfied until the elections are over, we've beaten all Democrats, and there aren't any BS lawsuits protesting the results.

People best check these elections and make sure everyone that voted is a qualified voter. ACORN will be in there someplace.

This is clearly HIS idea, but my TAKE is that nothing done in politics is written in stone. In fact, a stalwart Republican majority in Congress and GOP a president could make short work of everything the Obama Administration & Congress has or will accomplish in a few short months.

It now appears probable that the Republicans will take at least two out of the three nationally regarded races and have a better than even chance of winning the third. The 23rd district in New York, the gubernatorial contests in Virginia and New Jersey could all go to the Republicans (unless one considers Hoffman's probable victory the 23rd district of New York as a conservative victory).

This has undoubted implications for Obama and Pelosi's healthcare "reform." It should put the fear of God into many Blue Dogs. It will reinforce reluctant Democrat Senators and it vindicates Joe Lieberman. It also has implications for Cap and Trade in the Senate and makes it much more difficult for Obama to complete his Marxist coup of the whole American economy.

It has significant implications for the governing of the Republican Party. It leaves Rep. Pete Sessions and former Speaker Newt Gingrich both looking damned foolish. Worse, they look out of touch. They simply do not understand the electoral landscape of America today-although one suspects they will be learning fast. This has tremendous implications for funding and for the momentum of the Tea Party Movement.

I have preached long and often on these threads that the Republican Party must be reformed and that it cannot win if he does not accommodate The Tea Party Movement. Equally, The Tea Party Movement will succeed only in electing Democrats if it does not align itself with the Republican Party. A 21st-century election campaign throughout 50 states is too vast, too complicated, and too expensive to be accomplished by a bunch of well-meaning, overweight, middle-aged, suburbanite, middle-class, patriotic, Americans. They need the apparatus of the Republican Party because that professionalism, fund-raising ability, mailing list, ground game, national coordination, is absolutely indispensable if we are to have a hope of doing battle with the juggernaut being prepared for us by the Democrats. Just consider how many fundraisers Obama has already attended.

Essentially, this is a call for both groups to come together and accommodate each other and

for God sake act as patriots!

Haven’t seen any evidence to show that this administration is remotely as able to manipulate the media as the Clinton admin. The Clintons could spin anything and play their opponents for fools.

This administration will go to war with the voters of New Jersey, Virginia and upstate New York.
