Scozzafava Endorses Democrat After Dropping Out of N.Y. Congressional Race
Fox News ^ | 11/01/09

Republican Dede Scozzafava endorsed her former Democratic opponent Sunday in the race for an upstate New York congressional seat, one day after Scozzafava dropped out of the contest.

Scozzafava dropped out after Conservative Party candidate Dough Hoffman experienced a late-in-the-game surge. But on Sunday, Scozzafava backed Democrat Bill Owens -- the announcement was made in a statement send out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

"I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same," she said. "In Bill Owens, I see a sense of duty and integrity that will guide him beyond political partisanship. He will be an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York. Bill understands this district and its people, and when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first."

Deserting the GOP is easy; it will take hard work and love of country to fix it.

Bears repeating.

As is so often the case in life, the more difficult road is frequently the more honorable, and prosperous road to take in the long run.

The patriotic right must re-take the Republican party from the usurpers and infiltrators who have commandeered it. It's our duty, and a moral imperative that we do so.

We should cram Sean’s email box with conservatives don’t want to hear from Newt. Newt knew exactly what Dede was all about. It was all a setup - Newt IS IN BO’s pocket. I have no doubt about it and he was on the WH visitor log. Some say he woke up, he’s clueless. Truth is he isn’t asleep and the traitor knew exactly what he was doing.

Newt by far. Steele is the party chair and most likely per the bylaws has to support the GOP candidate. Newt had no such restrictions.

I kind of think this may turn out good for Hoffman. People hated Dede. They are angry at their economy and choices made. Why would they vote in someone she says will work out just like her?

We all want Hoffman,I just don’t see the need to bury Newt when he does have his moments even though they are getting to be few and further in between. Like I said before, lock him in a think tank and throw away the key.

before we carry this celebration too far.........Hoffman qualifies as a RINO on the immigration issue. while he is the preferred candidate, he is not as conservative as I am

Well, let's prove that someone like Hoffman can be elected before we get into making the movement even smaller.

Your position on illegal immigration is not popular. A hard line on illegal immigration loses elections, over and over and over again.

That doesn't make you wrong - but it does make you a poor judge of candidates.

Misunderstood,I am not advocating voting for rinos, but having them vote for conservative candidates at election time.

If Hoffman loses, it will show that a "true conservative" can't win a 100-year GOP district under extremely favorable circumstances, meaning that the "dump the RINOs" program is misguided and foolish.

If the "dump the RINOs" program is indeed proven to be "misguided and foolish", then we'll have but one other solution left to us.

Hint: millions of Americans are nearly ready to follow the example of our forefathers, and to set things right in this way.

The GOP must first die before it can be reborn. This is a first step.

I don't believe that the party has to die, to be reborn anew. The RINOs can be booted from the GOP, with enough grass-roots elbow grease and fire. This is exactly the lesson we should all be drawing from the NY-23 episode.

Conservative patriotism wins whenever it's applied.

You are assuming a fact not in evidence, namely, that the conditions are 'extremely favorable.'

Hoffman is a third party candidate who, until recently, was opposed by the GOP bosses and who has had both Owens and Scozzafava sniping at him. The RINO, rather than graciously get behind the conservative, has actually endorsed his opponent (who was, until yesterday, her opponent.

Now, if Hoffman had run in a primary, taken the GOP line and been supported by the party from that time I would agree with you. But that isn't the case here.

Did he say he didn’t know what Dede was about? What excuse could he possibly use.

Nope. I want Sean to show me what he's made of, all on his own.

He's buddied up to "Mr. Speaker" Gingrich for a long time now. Let's see if he has the courage of his convictions, or if he's going to go RINO on us, as well, by continuing to support this phony.

It's gut check time, Sean.

He’s not clueless, he knows exactly what he was doing. IF Sarah hadn’t gotten involved, who would have known what was going on in upstate NY. That’s where Newt’s plan started to turn sour. Newt’s name is on the WH visitor log, he’s aligned himself w/Pelosi, AlSharpton. Remember, he/they pulled the same crap giving us McCain - it was all back room deals. Newt has been and is a sellout!

this has Rahm Emanuel's fingerprints all over it...

Don't know if he was part of the selection process of Dede, but it seems he's been involved after the Conservative candidate started gaining ground. From CENTRAL NY REAL-TIME NEWS: Republican Dede Scozzafava urges friends to vote for Democrat Bill Owens after exiting NY-23 House race

A number of prominent Democrats and White House officials reached out to Scozzafava in the past 24 hours, asking her to endorse Owens.

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., had several phone conversations with Scozzafava, an aide confirmed Sunday. Schumer also asked White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to help lobby Scozzafava for her support.

"Most of the libertarians I’ve bumped into right here on FR all show up on the morality threads supporting RINOs and advocating dope legalization, pornography, perversion, abortion, flag burning, and general chaos/anarchy/lawlessness(get the government out of the way)in the name of “liberty”."

I've tried twice to come up with a response this comment, but it's too idiotic for a rational response. RINOs are big government types in every area. They'd be right with you in using the force of government to create your utopia.
