(WIBW) - Former Alaska Governor and 2008 United States Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin is coming to Kansas.

The Greater Salina Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that Palin will be the featured speaker at their annual banquet and membership meeting February 5, 2010.

"We are so pleased that Governor Sarah Palin has accepted our invitation to come to Salina as our keynote speaker for the Chamber’s annual meeting,” sDaran Neuschafer, Chairman of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, said. “Governor Palin was clearly identified as a top choice as speaker early in the process, and the event committee is thrilled that she’ll be with us February 5. To hear from someone with the Governor’s unique experience and perspective of the political landscape will create an exciting evening for everyone, and just continues our long list of high-profile speakers"

The banquet will be held in the arena of the Bicentennial Center, preceded by a membership networking reception in Heritage Hall of the Center.

Tickets for the event are $50 per person for Chamber members and $75 per person for non-members. Reservations can be made by Chamber members now through December 1 by stopping by the Chamber office, 120 W. Ash, calling the Chamber office, 1-785-827-9301, or emailing scole@salinakansas.org.

Tables of eight will be reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. If available, tickets will go on sale December 2 to the general public.

A limited number of sponsorships are available. For details about the cost and amenities of the sponsorships, persons can contact the Chamber office.

Salina? Why the hell would she go Salina? I have been there and it is a nice little town but, Salina?

Careful.

A certain vainglorious and legendary Freeper was introduced to the world in Salina in the year of our Lord 1960. It still holds a warm place in his mighty and majestic heart.

Given the track record of these kind of announcements I’d wait until Palin confirms she’s going to be there before I’d buy a ticket.
